Why should God care who said council of old dudes appoints?
Dunno, but surely you yourself are not equipped to question the motives of someone you don't even believe in? I certainly don't question the motives of Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. And speaking as an atheist, this is exactly why I fi
I really think the you have to be online to initially activate crowd is not that big- and makes a lot more noise then their actual weight. Who doesn't have an internet connection and plays PC games?
I do not have an Internet connection on my gaming machine, I've no intention of connecting in the near future, and I'm far for the only one. The exclusion of a subsection of gamers from legitimately playing a game may be an irrelevancy to you, but it is not to them.<br /

I didn't buy Empire: Total War simply because of the Steam requirements, which is saying something as I've bought every single Total War product released since Shogun. Frankly, I found the sudden requirment for to install redundant third party software a slap in the face to long time supporters of the series.

Dungeon Keeper 2? Really? I missed the beautiful hand-painted map from the first one, but besides that I was happy enough. Anything in particular you didn't like?

Gothic. I paid a grand total of five Irish punts for it, which is about seven or eight US dollars in today's money, and I wasn't expecting much. If I'd know how good it was going to be I would have happily paid fifty punts.

1. Black and White: This was the beginning of the long, slow, and tragic putrification of Peter Molyneux. A man once responsible for such classic landmarks of gameplay as Populous, Syndicate and Dungeon keeper degenerates into a soulless, eye-candy pushing hack. If anyone out there harbours a desire to spend countless hours slapping a giant ape in a fruitless attempt to teach it not to eat its own excrement than this is the game for you. 2. Deus Ex 2: Infamy, infamy, the cons
Yes, developers want you to play the way they want. Because if they ever let you play the way you want (unless it happens to be the way they want) then you probebly broke something. They will design what they can to give you as many options as possible hoping that you will find something that IS the way you want to play (look at stardock, they want us to play with our own armies and stuff for this game), but ultimately it is st

I'm curious on the whole 'ironman' debate. Why do some players insist that the onus is on the developers to enforce (optionally or not) a play style? If a player enjoys ironman style play then they're free to play in that manner. I've never encountered a game that excludes ironman play. Is the crux of the problem something to do with scoreboards and virtual penises? I suppose a speci

You weren't wandering over half the map trying to figure things out, and more importantly you didn't have to wander across half the map simply to find quests, they were easy to find.

Yes. I know exactly what you're talking about. It sucked.
Really? I preferred the BG 1 style of freeform exploration

Check point only/limited save systems means repetition and repetition means having my time wasted. Such systems also force me the play the way the designers want rather than the way I want, and, as the final insult, check point only does not allow me to quit whenever I see fit without suffering lost progress. It's a lazy design feature implemented because it's easier than coding a robust and flexible save game system. This rot has spread so far I've played several modern PC games that don't e

Prior to the (horribly buggy) Temple of Elemental Evil the (horribly buggy) Dark Sun games represented the pinnacle of turn-based combat. Unlike ToEE the Dark Sun gameplay outside of combat was actually interesting too.
