Maybe they are a little odd. Run down houses or even ruins that have been repopulated somewhat would be better, but probably the most ambiance-killing part is how many inns there are, way too many. I think there should be about 1/10 the number of inns there are now.

If anybody cares, I solved my random crash problems, now I can play for 100 turns or more! [e digicons]\o/[/e] To anyone with terrible random crashes, turn off anti-aliasing!
I just rescued a horse from darklings, mounted it, and moved to another tile and it crashed. My game is still unstable, I can only play for about 30 turns max and many times cannot reach even that. The crashes are seemingly random and everywhere, scrolling across the map, clicking, or watching characters move, zooming, etc. Sometimes a crash report is made and sometimes not. Also my savegames many times cannot be loaded and crash or freeze on loading. <
Teleport does not work in this build, there is a video of Brad mentioning that in the Dev Journals.
I got a crash when clicking on the popup for a completed building, a Pub. It began to zoom to my city and just as the edge of the city came into view it crashed. Now that savegame will not allow me to view my city without crashing. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5133204/Elemental/Bugs%26Crashes/Elemental0_806-2010-07-11T15-22-13-614.zip I still do not have ver
Here are two recent crashes and dxdiag. This current version is unplayable because I cannot go more than five turns or less without crashing! [e digicons]X([/e] I have to say that each build has gotten less and less stable on my computer since Beta 1. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5133204/Elemental/Bugs%26Crashes/Elemental0_805-2010-07-02T00-27-21-879.zip <a href=
I have to say that I don't like the size changing, leave default as fixed, unless you can make it an option, which would be great!
I was wondering what happened to rivers on the map and when are they going back in? I also wanted to just suggest, if rivers are going in eventually (I don't see why not and it would be weird not to have them), that they be navigable by river boats for trade, if large enough a barrier to movement except a fords and bridges, and maybe also have a majority of the surviving fertile land near them since they are a good source of water.
@endofdayz- You certainly have a right to your opinion, but this game is not meant to be a traditional fantasy game with typical fantasy races, which I find quite refreshing. This world is completely Brad's idea and you should either go back to playing Dungeons and Dragons if you want elves or drop your argument because it is not going to change. Or better yet wait for a mod or mod it yourself. If you want more variety I would suggest you argue for more cultural
To raise taxes you must build a tax office (I think), but there is no way to raise or lower taxes, the tax office produces a certain amount of gold per turn like the market.
I kind of second what SavageBananaMan said. It's weird to have global resources for your cities even if the cities and resource improvements are not connected by roads or caravans, they need to be connected or else how do the reources get around? The current system could theoretically let two cities be on opposite sides of the map and not connected by roads or seaports to exchange resources. I was also thinking that a good way to make factions more unique is to have at lea
I think I have this problem too, and it fails to make a debug.err file, why is that? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5133204/Elemental/Bugs%26Crashes/Elemental0_802-2010-06-12T15-12-17-147.zip http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5133204/Elemental/Bugs%26Crashes/DxDiag.txt
I noticed that the main menu music changed in Beta 2 and I just wanted to say that I liked the previous menu music, in Beta 1, better. Just my opinion, anybody else have an opinion?
I was thinking that demolishing buildings should give you back some materials and disbanding units should give back iron and materials, depending on their weapons and armor. Building materials and unit equipment would not just disappear but would be reused. Of course not all materials should be returned to your stockpile as some would not be recoverable and no gold should be returned because it was used to pay for the construction, workers, soldier's pay, etc. Also demolis
That's terrible. I wish you the best of luck and hope you can stick around to contribute more of your excellent ideas and see the final version. I can't imagine what it's like to know your time in this world is so limited. But to use one of my favorite quotes "Never give up! Never surrender!"
You know what, I think I like this idea. Theoretically, you should be able to build a city into infinty with a huge amount of resources and the current system does severely limit city size, almost unrealistically so.
Island hopping seems to be a bottleneck for many AI's. Total War AI absolutely sucks when it comes to sea invasions and many other games, such as Europa Universalis III, are not much better. Hopefully you can get this AI to figure it out.

So what the heck are we arguing about? As long as the lore is in there sufficiently, there should be as much customization as possible!
I have to say I disagree with the OP's post. I want fully fleshed out lore and races/factions and not necessarily a focus on customization. I do support a race/faction editor, but that should not be the dev's focus right now. Taking GalCiv II as an example, I made one custom human faction based on my playing strategies, but I was always playing against the original factions. I find putting custom races into the game with the original factions to
Yes you are right he did, so this thread is kind of irrelevant now.
My custom sov doesn't have the basic spell book show up in the choose sov screen or in the create custom sov window, but it is listed in his .xml file.
Confirm it happens all the time in my games.
My sovereign was on his way back to the city after rescuing a noble's daughter from bandits and it crashed. Oddly, the noble's daughter did not show up with my sov after rescuing her (killing the bandits anyway) and it did not tell me where to go next. Hehehe, I am majoring in entomology and I love insects! Spiders to a lesser degree, but still awesome. However, I find giant spiders to be VERY overdone in fantasy games. I'm a little tired of spiders and would like something else, like giant praying mantids or ants or something. However, if it is a must, I would support the OP's ideas. Spiders would be much more scary if made with long skinny legs and very fast and agile, not slow and large with stubby le
