Just tried uninstalling using the "add/remove program" control panel, cannot do so. (It gives an "An error may have occured while trying to remove Elemental-War of magic. It may have already been uninstalled" response.) I also have demigod and Galactic civilizations 2 installed the same way (In the D drive), and they run fine. (Demigod was also installed by downloading ot the C drive, than moving to the D drive).
The problem with "essence-costing each time, even on revived land" is that it doesn't make sense at all. If you have revived the land, and have enough people to found a new city, why couldn't you do it ?
I realize that it would be difficult to explain backstory wise, but the backstory can be easily adjusted with some sort of hand waving or other explanation, or it could just be considered one of those cases where gameplay trumps

The Beta files were moved to go with the other Stardock games. The stardock games in general were moved to clear up space on the C drive. I'll try your suggestion and see how it goes. I'm not sure what you mean by "not telling the rgistry...etc.", so what do you think is happening in more detail?

Tried again with an uninstall.reinstall, still have no files in the My Documents/My Games/elemental folder (apart from debug). Steps taken: 1. Use impulse to uninstall Elemental. 2. The C:/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/Stardock/Elemental-War of Magic and D:/My Documents/My Games/Elemental folders still exist after doing this uninstall, so I delete those. 3. Reinstall using Impulse. Reinstalling installs

I see on page 1 that I wasn't the only person to think Unclean Beast in the introductory picture. :) Overall, the goals sound nice, though I'll still continue to watch the game mechanics develope. (And hopefully actually get the dang thing to work..)

This post is insipired by the linked thread, and by me having been playing some civilization 4 mods recently. This is pretty much a list of game mechanics I'm hpoping will be simple to mod in. (not being a programmer, I'm not sure how many of these will be simple or complex to include, this is more of a wish list, although it has some basis in features that seem planned for elemental, ideas I have for the sorts of mods someone might make, or perhaps features in other games.) The debug.err is in the external link in the first post. (Should probably have mentioned that.) In "my documents/My Games/Elemental" : The units folder has a "icons" folder. Both of these folders are empty. The "tiles" folder has a "shadows" folder, both folders are empty. The "stamps", "Saves", "Race", "Items", and "Effects" folders are empty. In "Documents and settings/All Users/Application Data/Stardock/eleme
Why do you think an entire sphere can be filled up with damage spells, but damage spells can't be unique between spheres? Nature ball as a serious spell, is it a giant granola bar or what? We could put Monk in the game and he'd be paralyzed by getting "nature" on his hands.
The point he was arguing against (I think) was the idea that different magic damage types are the only thing separating spells. Yes, you could, for instance , have one spell category have mor

The problem seems to be an installation problem, where several files that should be there are not. This problem occured after uninstalling and reinstalling elemental. To solve what appeared to be a previous problem of elemental looking for nonexistant folders, I uninstalled the game, than deleted the documents and settings and My Documents folders related to elemental (So that Impulse could install them again, since the game appeared ot be looking in the wro

Btw, I know the focus is on land battles, but we really should pirates into the game as some sort of anti-DRM easter egg or something. It'd be hilarious. I would like this type of feature as well as an option for mods, depending on how simple it is. Dungeons certainly would be nice, but I'm also thinking in terms of multiple planes and worlds (Like master of Magic or the Civilization 2: Test of Time games). (It seems that, given someone with enough coding skill, this type of thing could be used for both, though I wouldn't actually know for sure.)
We just want that an ice-sword does less damage to a yeti (exemple) than a firesword does. Or that a wraith doesn't take magic damage from a deathsword but takes from a lifesword. If THAT is too complicated then they should add the option to buy a new brain with the game...
This sort of stuff doesn't add much to gameplay (for reasons that have been mentioned earlier). Points against the "realism" arguments have been made before. I'll also add that the dgree

Note beforehand: This system is probably really unlikely ot actually make it into the game for a number of reasons, it is more as an idea for people to think about and such. This is an idea for creating and researching spells in a manner similar to unit customization, so instead of researching fully designed spells, magical research would involve researching different elements of a spell, than putting them together ot make a full one. Elements researched wou

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I've gotten really annoyed with the way many of ther "pro lots of magic damage types" people have approached the issues, with the over the top wailing about how "No strategic options", "The game must have this", "I'm regretting my preorder", "The world is getting dumbed down", etc. over a single combat mechanic, that in a lot of ways is quite uninteresting compared to other combat mechanics.

On the "armors always have a purpose", I'm guessing they'll do that anyway (Similar to how galactic civilizations small ships were still useful in certain ways even after larger ones were added.) Still seems useful to keep in mind, though. The "special armor" idea seems cool as well, it actually seems like a good mix with the quest system. I wouldn't necessarily make the armor a type that goes obsolete later on, though, just a type that is perhaps slig
