The problem with such a system will come with the increased ESRB rating. If it gets into the M or A range, the number of sales would be adversely effected.
Something like "Release the Titans" would be an interesting spell indeed.
I think this is a great idea. Maybe it isn't occurring because implementing it with the AI is difficult. One system to work with both PCs and NPCs can be quite daunting.
Having one system for players, and another, simpler system for the AI would be one option here, but I think the idea was to have ONE SYSTEM TO RULE THEM ALL. I trust our Froggy Master in his decisions on this matter. He's thought about this long and hard. I believe the benefit of the doubt is warranted.
Very WoW like. Some really like that mechanic, some don't. Of course, UO introduced it many, many years back, too, so, that idea has been around for quite some time. Adding complexity for complexity's sake alone isn't always the best course, but I do see some nice possibilities with such a system.
Hmmm... incest would probably be out. But adding some more options for marrying prospects would probably be helpful.
Elemental has the biggest budget of ANY Stardock game so far. I trust they will use it to put in the things for which the fans truly care.
Most of my 4x experiences revolve around Charisma, Trade, Telepathy, Fame, etc... I'm glad to see that that option isn't a complete waste in Elemental.
There seems to be SO many different combinations that custom factions can have... what are the best combos you've seen so far? Which ones do you recommend we all avoid?
I think the idea of the game is to interact with the AI (which our Froggy master has put a great deal of love and care into making as tough as possible for us.) One continent sounds like a fair strategy to me.
I'm excited to see how cavalry effects game play. That, and reenacting some scenes from legend, namely those of Lady Godiva.
