I did a search for this on the forum and didn't find anything, which means I'll have to start a thread about it. Elemental is a fantasy-themed strategy game. As such, I expect units to not only use brute force, but also to use magic. The idea was implemented both in MoM and in HoM&M (Heroes of Might & Magic). Neither of them did it well. My idea goes like this: I want to train mages (magicians) to bolster my army. For that, I need a high level specialized infrastracture (wizard guild). I like random events. Random events are good. I want there to be a slider for the chance of a random event happening per turn. Minimum would be zero, maximum would be 5% or so. The slider will go in jumps of 0.5%. Ideas for random events: <span style="font-family: arial,helvetica

Idea: the research system of Master of Orion 2. You have 8 linear trees, 10 sections in each one. In every section, there are up to three different research option. You can only pick ONE of them, and the other are lost to you.You can get the inventions you missed through diplomacy, war and espianoge (sp?). In this system, every game is different, since your decisions are based on the situation at hand.It's not perfect, but it's an interesting system. Go give it a try.
