That's very nice to know. I know you don't like the comparison (since you probably had the idea before it) but Elemental sounds like it has as much customization as Spore, but with an actual game behind it. [e digicons]:)[/e] ahmen to that brother

i love a LOT of these ideas posted, especially the diplomacy counter. The only thing wrong with the "trust" system implied here is that it would need to be extremely complex to seem real. A lot of traditional rts games have implied similar systems, and you tend to find yourself at war with "AI RED" because you are trading with his enemy "AI YELLOW" too much, and your borders just happen to be way too close to "AI RED" thus he experiences a nervous breakdown in which "AI YELLOW" inv
im okay with traditional style, OR globe, i dont think it really matters, but i'd definately like to see an option between the two like civ4 and maybe like others have mentioned floating island maps or themed maps that replace ocean with air. totally loving the skies of arcadia legends kinda thing, airships ftw best rts idea IMO.

So I'm not worried about it being included." lulz so true.
common plebe ftw!
i think the population growth rate should be made semi-realistic. maybe a compromise between absolutey insane banging, and realistic, quaint banging.
i like the idea of maybe one or two really well planned out million-man cities per civilization towards the middle/end of a larger map, and then a dozen or so smaller cities wtih several hundred thousand people.
oh hahahaha i didnt even think for a second that the realism was a issue... i just thought this was all over what time scale would be best....i dont think players will care if the time is realistic(atleast, i dont, i just care what time scale makes me feel a part of a world the most, say 1 month, that really works for me, but other people might like other timescales, that is why i suggested the setting to let the players choose.. :/ ) haha i feel dumb. if we were to have a
"Could you better define what you mean by 'ever expanding tech tree'? I'm thinking that no matter how hard you research, there's always another tech higher up, but I've been mistaken before." what i mean is a tech tree that never ends, the techs could have no limit to how far could go if you make the techs just cycle through and improve old technology. like a mount training upgrade which allows you to train better mounts. well, if their is enough con
i was just pondering, while looking at some screenshots and looking back at QnA sessions; why are the populations so low? their have been several claims that over a million people could live in a city at any given time, and yet all the screenshots are nowhere near that figure. also, in a post cataleptic world, is "a million people living in a single city" practical? should the figures be closer to one thousand??? what do you think?
thats kinda cool. i like that.
i dont care what they do with the tech tree, as long as its non linear -and an ever expanding tree would be nice(but thats too much to ask)
i do not like systems that are too complex for the gamer, the point of a game is to entertain, not to understand the system that operates your entertainment. if a system like this were implemented, i would not expect to be forced to understand it and use the foundation of the feature to develop my tactics. i am not saying i am disregarding this system of advanced(atleast from the standpoint of a game) armor classifications, but im saying, wouldnt basing armor on stats be better? whats the poi
the spore system works fine, you can chose for only specific creations to be put into your game,(sporecasts, friends, direct downloads, your own creations etc.) the only flaw is the abuse of the downrater in which good contet gets rated poorly, and sometimes removed from the server, while bad content gets in the most popular creations section. the whole "freedom to rate" system is flawed, the stardock mods should do the rating, atleast you'll get an honest rate. EDIT: I fergot to mentio
good idea, but not so good if you are starting on already large maps, like others have said; you would probably have max tech and large armies. it would simply be a production contest.(considering the economic complexity of the game, however; you might still be able to reach even higher tech levels than before the expansion, and the whole experience could be somewhat end-game-apocalyptic if you play your cards right.) However, for the most part, the game would be dull, and an epic steamr
I have the exact same problem, i think this is a great idea in theory and would definately solve the issue for gamers like us, BUT it would be too hard to execute and thus the only reasonable implement of this technology(at least at the moment) wouldn't be as efficient as you(and myself) aspire.
how about letting the player decide what kind of scale he/she wants(within reasonable variation, say 1 day, 10 days, 1 week, 10 weeks, 1 month) and then adjust the game accordingly. It could be a setting of some sort, it could also help open the game up a little more and make the player feel like he/she is not forced to play a game lasting ten thousand years, or even 10 thousand days, but can choose what kind of scale he/she wants, and still not feel overwhelmed(e.g. having a text box fo
