So I haven't played since the first iteration of WoM, like during purchase week. That was the only time I played, and I was so distraught I just haven't played again. I have, however, been watching the forums. So tell me people, as someone who had high hopes for WoM (think Age of Wonders 2, etc) should I bother downloading the Beta 4 of Fallen Enchantress?

Maybe Gabe doesn't want to sell it now but one day that will likely change (or Gabe will eventually die from old ag

Hey guys, probs a silly question but now that Stardock and Impulse are seperate can I still get FE on Impulse when I get my free copy? Do I just register the Serial from the Stardock download page on Impulse and that's it? Looking forward to checking out the beta as well, I had high hopes for WOM and from what I've read FE seems to be a huge improvement. :D
I'm kind of glad FE will be completely different/seperate from WoM. WoM kinda sucked, hate to say it, but there it is. Sadly, it still sucks. I was pretty peeved at game launch being as I paid 30 Queen Heads (that's Pounds Sterling to non-English folk) and the game was fairly shoddy. Thankfully Stardock have a ton of my goodwill thanks to their community interactions and previous games (Gal Civ, Sins) so I'm really hoping they nail FE and make it the game WoM should have b
Please note that I demanded NOTHING. Also I would obviously not be eligible for the free expansions if I got a refund, how you guys read into it that I expected that is just...well...insane. I'm just thinking with £30 or whatever it was, I could buy Civ 5 and actually own a game I'll play once a week at least. The fact is Elemental was and IMO still is a total sham. Shoddy as hell gameplay, bad particle effects, batshit crazy AI that is half the time moron
Basically I bought the game on release, was well disappointed with it, figured I'd give the patches time to sort it out but as is it's still IMO a pretty bad game. It says as much that they're completely abandoning the mechanics for the stand-alone expansion, if they aren't doing that then I apologise but that's what the Journals seem to be leaning towards. It's fair enough that'll get the expansions for free as I bought on release but tbh my faith in Stardock has been terribly shaken
er..... Both of these countries once were ruled by the British Crown. In fact Canada is still a Constitutional Monarchy, with the Head of State being the Queen of England.
For what it's worth today, they might as well have never had one. I'm well aware of Englands history and former Territories but a lot of Americans/Canadians aren't. That's not a dig at you guys, it's just a fact. Today America is independent and the "Constitutional Monarchy" doesn't exa
And I don't get why the 1st in line's son becomes 2nd in line, instead of the second born child?
I guess you're American or Canadian or some other country that never had a Monarchy? The line of succession is correct. E.g In England when the Queen dies Prince William will take up the Throne, therefore he is King and a new line of succession is accorded. As in when he has a son, he is heir to the Throne. The only way Prince Ha
I'm totally behind the "Heir to the Throne" idea. If your Sov dies the next in line should assume the throne. To maintain balance however children shouldn't be as plentiful. In a 2 hour game you could have 6+ kids, if that was 2-3 kids it would balance it out. Until 1.1+ though I'ma just play AoW : SM. Offering it for £6.32 on Impulse is rediculous (read:- awesome). Only downside is I realise AoW is more appealing than Elemental at this point in time :(</p
They have. AoW:SM is available on Impulse. At least I'll have something to play while Elemental is being made enjoyable.
Wow. Just wow. Elemental can learn so much from this game. Funny how Elemental flops, there's a lot of love for AoW on the forums, then less than a month later it appears on Impulse. Insane. I still hope Elemental works out though...
It felt to me that it was a "MUST HAVE" ability. Like creating a character without it put you at such a disadvantage.
So now that patch 1.08 is out, all the premade and even my old custom characters still have this "Organized" talent, but when I make a new character it just isn't there anymore. Oversight by Stardock? Or am I missing something?
How's about no? I, and the others who agree with many of the improvement suggestions, have the right to voice our opinions and suggestions as well. If you actually READ my initial post you will see that we don't just want an AoW/MMO clone, but a game that incorporates the good ideas and meshes them with Elementals own. So instead of just calling for a lock, either contribute to the debate, or just look at another thread.
Take your own advice.
Clearly a troll who doesn't understand the way conversation and debate works. You lay down the insults, but then try and tell me I should take my own advice not to insult you? Go look up the word "hypocrisy". Tool. Ahhh, and that's that. Let's get back to the subject matter if we can, Lord Troll-dimbulb or whatever his name is has, for me at least, been /ignored.
Despite stinging a bit now, I'm viewing Elemental as a gaming investment. The way I see it, I just bought a game with a free expansion coming, maybe even 2, and one that I know for a fact will be worked upon and updated. Ok, so I can't have much fun with it now, but there's hardly a gaming drought on at the moment. Plus I think it's kinda interesting following the feedback and stuff, watching how it all influences what's gonna happen with the patches, etc. I've
And I'm not saying that to defend anything or anyone. Elemental is awful and Stardock should be ashamed of their shoddy work. No, I'm just saying this because you're a bona fide moron who pretty much exemplifies the mouthbreathing, neckbearded, armchair-designer-tryhard.
And yet I'm beset by self-important pricks like you who can't just read a comment and take it for what it is without resorting to insults. The fact is, AoW is a great game, it was on re
Also see my MARRIAGE and LINEAGE post, I think it would be great if you could continue playing even if your Sov dies in enemy territory, as long as you have an Heir to the Throne.
What the game needs is equipment that grants special abilities: Spears grant first - strike. (Sword-damage style but two-handed, counterattack BEFORE the attacker gets to attack. Heavily armored infantry will beat them since they survive the counterattack and attack spearmen with weaker defence (no shield), ditto archers, but an effective counter to two hander users. Spiked Armor - armor that damages any unit that attacks it in melee. Armor of repelling - aft
I couldn't find any details on this so I can only assume it isn't implemented but that I'd like to see is some actual lineage and passing the Throne going on. For example, once your Sovereign gets to a certain age he/she becomes a Figurehead only with city benefits until they die, and once they do the Throne passes to whoever is next in line. This should also be the case if you Sov falls in battle outside of your territory. As long as you have an Heir, you should be abl
There's various tiles on the battlefield that grant bonuses, although the AI seems completely unaware of this fact. Fixing that would be a start, fortifications would be nice, but I think the main issue there is a lack of distinction between units. More special abilities, more inherent differences between weapons and armour and similar would go a long way there.
You're right about that. The unit variation needs looking at as much as the magic system. I w
In my mind, anything less than "game of the year" (in a year with Starcraft 2 and Civ V in it) means we totally screwed up.
I'm all for ambition, but aiming for GOTY over Starcraft 2 is just...well...just rediculous. Civ 5, maybe, unlikely but maybe. Starcraft 2 however, not a chance. It's basically THE strategy game of the last 10 years, nevermind just this year. You just don't find that kind of refinement and polish anywhere outside of Blizzard.
Am I alone is thinking this game would have been better if they just blatantly ripped the best parts out of Gal Civ / Age of Wonders / MoM / Master of Orion and just compiled it and streamlined it into the new engine? I for one, would have been a happier bunny.
If someone made Age of Wonders:Shadow Magic in the Elemental Engine and just copied it part for part (latest patch ofc) I would buy it over and above Elemental any day of week.
