So I haven't played since the first iteration of WoM, like during purchase week. That was the only time I played, and I was so distraught I just haven't played again. I have, however, been watching the forums. So tell me people, as someone who had high hopes for WoM (think Age of Wonders 2, etc) should I bother downloading the Beta 4 of Fallen Enchantress?

They cannot be "bought out" and don't have to fold to shareholder pressure, because there are no shareholders. That is very naive. Private companies are bought and sold all the time. Maybe Gabe doesn't want to sell it now but one day that will likely change (or Gabe will eventually die from old ag

Hey guys, probs a silly question but now that Stardock and Impulse are seperate can I still get FE on Impulse when I get my free copy? Do I just register the Serial from the Stardock download page on Impulse and that's it? Looking forward to checking out the beta as well, I had high hopes for WOM and from what I've read FE seems to be a huge improvement. :D
Company of Heroes, Dawn of War : Dark Crusade (great skirmish game!) and Rise of Nations are the one's aside from Sins/SupCom/SC2 that spring to mind.
The great thing about the links in my other post Tim is that they aren't just replays, they're VOD's, which is basically a guy commentating the game as it's played. Day9 also does special VOD's which are solely aimed at turning people into better gamers! They're often pretty analytical and in depth, but in a good way. If you just want to watch games for fun and to see how teh pro's play though, check out HDStarcraft on YouTube or go to TeamLiquid.net.
I played roughly 2000 games of DoW2 online during the first year of it's release and I can safely say its a buggy, imbalanced, infuriating game. Sc2 IMO is a much better example of an online RTS. DoW2 is a lot of fun 2v2 though, and 3v3, the imbalance is mitigated somewhat and it was initially designed as a team game. Sc2 not so good at team games, but awesome 1v1. But Timmaigh, read my other post dude. :D
and honestly, i fail to see all the hype it gets. I admit although i played lot of RTSes in my gaming "career" and love the genre, i am not very good player, i tend to do probably better on Call of Duty, which i played a lot for the majority of the last year, or sports games (football, ice hockey) which i always played a lot. Anyway after playing Sins or SupCom SC2 feels like the relevation from the past... you cant zoom and your average armies consist
It seems if an enemy has ringed his Gravity Well the only thing you can do is send in a suicide squad of scouts followed directly by your main fleet or try a different avenue of attack. But for just clearing the mines in general just follow what the infinitely more experienced players than me have said above. Only thing I will say is that if you need it done ASAP then suicide scouts are the best way to go. Or if you have a Cap with some shield regen abilities maybe?
Love your "A Scanner Darkly" avatar. (At least that's my guess.)
You're right on the money m8ty :D I've yet to read the novel but the film is very good (in my humble opinion), any "spaced-out and confused but still trying to work out what's going on" character role is perfect for Mr. Reeves, he does it so well.
I'm kind of glad FE will be completely different/seperate from WoM. WoM kinda sucked, hate to say it, but there it is. Sadly, it still sucks. I was pretty peeved at game launch being as I paid 30 Queen Heads (that's Pounds Sterling to non-English folk) and the game was fairly shoddy. Thankfully Stardock have a ton of my goodwill thanks to their community interactions and previous games (Gal Civ, Sins) so I'm really hoping they nail FE and make it the game WoM should have b
Man, more anticipation! I just don't think I can take anymore. I just bought Sins Trinity on the fly the other day and I gotta say, it's awesome! Now I hear about this stand-alone expansion with all kinds of cool updates and the anticipation is killing meh! I'm full up on anticipation! Deus Ex : Human Revolution, Diablo 3, The Old Republic, Arkham City, Mass Effect 3 and now Sins : Rebellion!! Where will it end?
Well, thanks to you guys I'm beating Normal every run now. Couple of close moments where I've lost/nearly lost my farthest planet due to over-extension but all in all I think I'm getting to grips with it. Those Hoshiko things really are the business, really helping to keep my guys alive. Also I checked out the unit guide and from that and the comments above I can see that going for a significant number of Light Combat Frigs is only viable VS a Carrier/Suppor
Wow, pretty fast responses from teh Pro's! Thanks for the help guys, I'll play a few more games and see how I get on, then report back when I have a better grip on things!
Hi guys, I'm pretty new to the game, purchased Trinity the other day and have played a few games so far. I can see myself sinking sone time into it! :D Anyway, after reading a few posts I think I've picked up some good tips on how I'm supposed to be playing. Firstly my Capital Ship choice sucked, lolz. I always was picking a heavy hitter like the Kol (TEC) or the Kortul (Vasari) but now I know to pick a Cap ship with a Colonise or Carrier type ability. Also
Hi guys, I just bought the game after watching some "Let's Play"s, been interested in it for a while but there was always another game I'd just happened to have spent some cash on. I can see myself putting some hourage into Sins though, maybe not as much as I poured into MoO2 over the years but I'll defo be playing a fair bit! Anyway, an odd place for an introduction so back to the topic! I've only played a few games so far, but my last one was a
Please note that I demanded NOTHING. Also I would obviously not be eligible for the free expansions if I got a refund, how you guys read into it that I expected that is just...well...insane. I'm just thinking with £30 or whatever it was, I could buy Civ 5 and actually own a game I'll play once a week at least. The fact is Elemental was and IMO still is a total sham. Shoddy as hell gameplay, bad particle effects, batshit crazy AI that is half the time moron
Basically I bought the game on release, was well disappointed with it, figured I'd give the patches time to sort it out but as is it's still IMO a pretty bad game. It says as much that they're completely abandoning the mechanics for the stand-alone expansion, if they aren't doing that then I apologise but that's what the Journals seem to be leaning towards. It's fair enough that'll get the expansions for free as I bought on release but tbh my faith in Stardock has been terribly shaken
er..... Both of these countries once were ruled by the British Crown. In fact Canada is still a Constitutional Monarchy, with the Head of State being the Queen of England.
For what it's worth today, they might as well have never had one. I'm well aware of Englands history and former Territories but a lot of Americans/Canadians aren't. That's not a dig at you guys, it's just a fact. Today America is independent and the "Constitutional Monarchy" doesn't exa
And I don't get why the 1st in line's son becomes 2nd in line, instead of the second born child?
I guess you're American or Canadian or some other country that never had a Monarchy? The line of succession is correct. E.g In England when the Queen dies Prince William will take up the Throne, therefore he is King and a new line of succession is accorded. As in when he has a son, he is heir to the Throne. The only way Prince Ha
I'm totally behind the "Heir to the Throne" idea. If your Sov dies the next in line should assume the throne. To maintain balance however children shouldn't be as plentiful. In a 2 hour game you could have 6+ kids, if that was 2-3 kids it would balance it out. Until 1.1+ though I'ma just play AoW : SM. Offering it for £6.32 on Impulse is rediculous (read:- awesome). Only downside is I realise AoW is more appealing than Elemental at this point in time :(</p
They have. AoW:SM is available on Impulse. At least I'll have something to play while Elemental is being made enjoyable.
Wow. Just wow. Elemental can learn so much from this game. Funny how Elemental flops, there's a lot of love for AoW on the forums, then less than a month later it appears on Impulse. Insane. I still hope Elemental works out though...
It felt to me that it was a "MUST HAVE" ability. Like creating a character without it put you at such a disadvantage.
So now that patch 1.08 is out, all the premade and even my old custom characters still have this "Organized" talent, but when I make a new character it just isn't there anymore. Oversight by Stardock? Or am I missing something?
