Yithril - I like the concept of Yithril gaining research points (say 0 points for level 1 city, 20 points for level 2 city, 30 points level 3 city, 40 points for level 5 city) from the conquest of cities. It reminds me of the Tsgardi race, in the syfy series: A Galaxy Unkown.
Ya it just seems weird to me that the barbarian style races are building schools and universities.
What difficulty level and map size are you playing with how many AI? These settings drastically change how the game plays.
Doesn't matter. We are discussing how if you manage to beat one AI's main army or take one of his cities you can then steam roll his entire kingdom. Effectively increasing your power immediately by 50%. Then it becomes much easier to take out the next AI, and etc.... The problem is that an early victory
Militia help with steamrolling but they far from prevent it. More needs to be done. I would rather not end up with 20 militia shoved in a city, especially since you could just magic them to death. I would like to see a small permanent unrest penalty in annexed cities, in order to provide a trade off with raising and founding a new city. Right now conquering is a no brainer with no downside. Conquering a city gives you a huge boost to population and thus research and gold which in tur
Maybe when you level up instead of choosing a trait you could choose to remove a negative one, that way you can get rid of the really bad injuries. Also a limit of 3-4 injuries wouldn't be a bad idea in order to help the AI out.

So since Beta 3 is all about faction differentiation I will give some feedback on it. Yes I am aware they aren't anywhere near done but I can give feedback on what they have released so far. From what I have seen so far most factions get a play style trait and some sort of equipment or spell trait. The problems I can see are that a lot of the traits don't actually change play style much and some are much better then others. A lot of these traits could really be reorganized so that fac
I'm glad I live in Canada where we distill our oil from sand instead. [e digicons]:P[/e] I was gonna add something about how modern society simply couldn't exist without cheap oil but others beat me to it. The icing on the cake would be if all those mutagens created a killer shrimp monster that started to eat fisherman.
If we don't find out today, we won't get it tomorrow in all probability.
This has definitely been the trend.
Don't forget the ever retarded situation were an AI attacks you, takes a city or two, and then you defeat them and your cities disappear. Neutral cities are an absolute must, maybe not in the next patch but before release. At the very least the cities of defeated players need to stick around and do nothing.
Also none of the characters are gay, transsexual, robots, handicapped, or from a religious minority. In fact since this a fantasy universe Stardock has a Duty to invent whole new ways to not discriminate against fictional people based on random physical or mental characteristics. I'm going to throw people with shoe sizes under 9 out there. In all seriousness Stardock should stick to their guns and just go with whatever the lore says. Racial characteristic
There should be a brown faction in the expansion. An evil faction from the east like in LOTR.
Kraxis? Which has always seemed more middle eastern then European to me.
Demonstrated racial bias by Stardock.
I highly suggest you actually try to make even the tiniest bit of effort to familiarize yourself with the lore or even the game period before you throw around accusations like this. You need to grow up. This is a fictional world created by Stardock, it contains red people, purple people, and blue people. They can frankly include or not include any skin color they want and it has no relevance to any bizarre little real life political
Dividing stats into primary and secondary ones didn't really work. It is a much smarter idea to just stick with primary ones. This solves the frankly huge problem with strength being overpowered, and allows us much more freedom when designing and specializing units. As others have said most the old stats only affected a single secondary stat anyway and thus were a complete waste of space.
Sounds very cool.
Spell Mastery and Spell Resistance have gone through the same change, they are flat percentages to have your spells take effect.
What I want to know is if damage spells and staffs can be blocked by spell resistance now.
Another (maybe not so obvious example): build killer stack = win, is not fun over the long run. There have to be negatives to every approach for it to be fun. If killer stacks are possible, and a player takes that path then it should become difficult to defend... logistics should become troublesome... something to counterbalance this player approach.
Yes this is the biggest problem I have with most strategy games.
He misses the mark. It isn't restrictions that matter at all. As Neo says in the second Matrix movie "The problem is Choice". It is meaningful choices that matter and make the game better. To make the choice meaningful, the act of choosing must place restrictions upon the player. This is why Shooters on rails or any type of "railroading" has a negative connotation in gaming. Restricting a player is a bad thing except when
Well champion differentiation will get a boost in the next patch. They have repeatedly mentioned how champions now have unique spells like chain lightning. Also even in .86 there are champions with unique items like Scylla's Mace. I imagine we will also see some more unique traits and items in Beta3 as they have mentioned they are trying to increase champion differentiation.
I own Civ5, like it, and think 1UPT is a interesting system that adds a lot of strategy. That said Civ5 has a lot of flaws. 1. Plainly ridiculously bad tactical AI. 2. Bad Pacing. 3. It's way to hard to conquer cities. 4. It's way to easy to city spam 5. It's broken on a competitive level. This site chronicles the problems that competitive players have well. &
Currently city spam is the way to play because of how easy it is to get growth buildings like inns that make prestige splitting irrelevant. However the devs have said they are aware of the problem and are making them harder to get. That said I don't think that will be enough. I would like to see a unrest penalty that increases as you build cities. You would be able to reduce this penalty through tech and improvements. This would prevent players from spamming right off the start an
I like the general style of Magnar's face but think his facial features could use some tweaking, especially his mouth. It is too flat and might look better with a more bestial curve. The human style lips don't work very well.
I also think encumbrance penalties need to be listed in plain site. It's very easy to overlook them as is.

Sounds very exciting. I like where your going with this.
Armor has been rebalanced and instead of being 50% more effective against certain damage types it is 100% more effective. Abilities have been added to all weapons.
The main reason the armor system never got used wasn't because weaknesses were too understated it was because for half the game you only had one type of armor, and when you did get new armor it was a no brainer to always use it.&n
Personally I like the new specialization system because we have too many buildings on the main map which makes cities cheesy and look like blobs. You can't really tell cities apart because there are so many improvements and most of them are built in every city. The new system would actually make every city look unique as it specializes and grows. There is no reason to place every bakery and workshop. In this case small cities is better. I'm not sure if a sub screen for placing improve
