I just discovered civilization 5, and i am really excited for it. I really like the new (to civilization) ideas that are getting into it, like nonsquare tiles and only one unit per square. It makes the combat look like a tabletop wargame. I think thats kinda neat.
FiAtin
I played the beta for a month, and really enjoyed it. I preordered the game so that I could watch those beautiful blizzard cutscenes as soon as possible.
I used to have huge halo parties at my house. When people started throwing controllers i would put on enya. It was very calming, and went surprisingly well with all the gunshots and explosions.
I really like the look. I had decided that the idea for elemental was cool enough that I would play it no matter what it looked like, but I have to say that it looks very nice for not being a huge blockbuster videogame.
Ok, here are the couple of ideas that I have thought up. Be able to take MULTIPLE turns before the other player. Ok, so when you hit "end turn", the button doesn't just go away and leave you waiting. It gets prices added to it. So, for a cost, you can take another turn before the other player. Depending on how many turns apart you are the price changes (by quite a lot, we wouldnt want someone being in the modern age while the other players are still i
Hmmm... What if there is a certain type of creature, "brownies" or something, that can build roads or speed production of roads or something. You persuade them to join you and then whatever city they are stationed in can use them to rush out to build the roads instead of using towns people. Or all "organic" road building is sped up near their position. Or if we go the Worker unit way they could be a faster worker.
I think that the reason it took them so long to come out with sc2 was that Blizzard was slightly busy with a small game called World of Warcraft and about a billion expansions for it.
Ya, female line of inheritance is an interesting twist. I'm assuming that would be stuffed into some sort of race/faction editor or whatnot. I'm a noob to this, so feel free to start throwing rotten fruit. This isn't the real FiAtin, by the way. I was never here.
Hey, I just found what might perhaps be another mod. Orleanknights post from a couple months ago. It is pretty cool looking . Anyways, I just remembered it and thought I would bring it up so that the list can be complete! :)
Wow! This dev journal blew me away! Every time a new dev journal comes out, I get more and more excited for this game. I think that the breakthrough system is genius. It is going to be a long wait for Elemental to come out!
Favorite: The Moddability Least Fav: No linuxness or macness.
Nice. I really like the fourth picture (the one of the cloth map). It looks really cloth mappy.
Duel mode sounds really cool. Sometimes I don't have time or just don't feel in the mood for a humongously long, involved game, and the duel mode would fill those times nicely.
Man, that was a really cool sneak peak. Cant wait for more.
Man, Stardock is just too awesome. Every new dev update just makes me more and more excited! Keep up the good work!
Here's a question regarding people as a resource: can I return them?
I am wondering the same thing. In the old game Lords or the Realm 2 you could disband your armies. The soldiers would return their weapons to your armory and then go back to work as peasants. It really made lots of sense. When the enemy attacked, you would call out your peasants, hand them their weapons, and then go and whoop the guy (hopefully). Once the
Nice work! Haha, I would be curious if I saw guys walking around with cloaks, pizza, and cameras...
To me, this sounds like you mean Online games will be hosted by you. To him, it sounds like all Multiplayer, meaning that LAN will not be available since if only you can host there can't be LAN.
I couldn't decide what they meant either. Hopefully they will clarify.
its from tv tropes, fun stuff to read Also the list of good star wars games is very short indeed - most of them are from the 90's
Too true. I am not sure about the conservation of awesomeness formula, though. I think it is more suited for fighting games than strategy. For example, Star Wars Empire At War used the Conservation of Awesomeness Formula(Stormtrooper Effect, Rebel Trooper Effect, Tie F
I am not worried about essence. I think it makes sense to have to give up, maybe permanently, some of your power to cast a spell. BoogieBac said
You'll have MANY spells to cast that dont sap your essence, but the ones that do will be considerably more potent. Hmmm. This might be a stupid question, but does frogboy's statement "Multiplayer games will be hosted by us. Period." mean that there will be no lan games?
Man, its sad that all of that stuff (demigod problems) had to happen. Especially since it is interfering with Elemental! Oh well, these things happen. I for one am sorry to see the bots go. But, I am only one person, and you are definitely right, they would be a ton of work. And it would be pointless to make them if lots of people don't like the idea. About the fewer moving parts. Does this mean the system outlined in dev journal Concept: Understanding U
The ideas are cool, and the art is awesome! I especially like the minion! *evil cackle When I heard that elemental would only have humans, and wouldn't initially have fantasy races like elves and dwarves, my brainwashed Tolkien mind was a little worried. Stardock said that user created content would fill the gap, but I didn't really believe them. But I guess that it actually can work, with people like you out there, orleanknight! Now that I know that there are actually people who inte
Yeah, forget the graphics! I mean, the beta testing is to figure out what is wrong with the gameplay anyways, right? If you get the gameplay figured out than you can always add graphics later! (My comment might be slightly biased because my computer is almost as bad as a netbook!)
