It's a shame about the fact that you can't use SE. Not so much for Oblivion- that game's a turd, no matter how many mods you put on it, but rather for Morrowind. Morrowind with some graphics mods and Morrowind Graphics Extender make that game look like it just came out a few years ago instead of 7 or 8 (can't remember at this time). I'm deciding if I'm willing to do without, because MWSE also has the Combat Enhanced mod that makes a great game even better.

I though it played like crap and immediately deleted it from my computer. It's not even worth the cost of free.
Awesome. When I finally whittle down my backlog a bit, I'd like to give Morrowind another go. I'll definitely be purchasing it off of Impulse.
I'd easily subscribe if I still lived in the US. I enjoy having print articles, even though sometimes the information is old by internet standards.
Atleast Steam has a purpose, however.
Permanently running DRM on my computer hardly qualifies as a "purpose."
Steam can easily balloon up to 50mb of ram usage (and I"ve had it go as high as 100mb...we're not talking in-game, either). For me, the most obnoxious thing is that there's absolutely no way to set the damn thing to close upon a game closing. Whether it's a resource hog or not is irrelevant; I simply do not want it running in the background. Due legalities, I may not "own" the game, but I damn well own my PC and I'm going to have it run the way I want to. It's amazing how, on other fo
PS3 games can be PhysX enabled, so that indicates nothing. In fact, there are other PS3 games listed on the site (Valkyria Chronicles) that are never hitting PC, so the list indicates nothing other than what it says- PhysX enabled games. It's not coming. It is a really good game, though, in terms of story-telling. EDIT: I realize it lists "PC" next to the game...interesting, but I'd suspect that it's a mistake. Could be wrong, though.
Thank you for posting that link Gargabee! I always hated manually adding Braid to my account (used my paypal for that one, under an old e-mail) to the point where it was basically a lost game. Now I finally have it back conveniently.
I'd love to see a side by side picture, simply because I think that picture looks quite good already. I'm sure I'll be able to max out/nearly max out Elemental as-is, but even on low-end hardware, it'll look great.
I didn't know exactly where to post this. Anyway, I've been trying for ages to get Raptr to track Sins: Diplomacy. On the website, it says it can be automatically tracked, but in the client, it never appears after scanning for games nor are you able to manually add it (you can add the original and Entrenchment). Has anyone gotten their Raptr client to actually track the game? If I'm not the only one (and therefore not crazy), I posted a request on their forums to get t
I'm pretty happy about the combat change. There are only two RTS's I've ever been able to play and enjoy. The first is Endwar because it's mostly voice controlled. Yeah, it's a bit simpler than most RTS, but it was definitely interesting. The other was Sins of a Solar Empire. That was more up my alley because I didn't have to micromange the damn thing. What general starts pin-pointing specific targets for every damn unit after a battle has started. Occasionally I intervened with targeting cer
I had a bit of a rough weekend personally, so I didn't play a ton of games. I ended up mostly playing Stalker: Clear Sky. I'm trying to do the games in chronological order (bought both of the other two off of Impulse). And just before I got on to post this, I finished my first game of Sins Trinity. Cool game, but the ending was....abrupt. In a 3-way game, the other two empires had at least two planets left. I just about had one conquered and then I was congratulated for winning.
Well for me personally, I decided against buying it. Yes, I really wanted the game, but I decided to make my own little stand against the game using Steamworks and requiring the client for single-player. I ended up buying Civ IV off Impulse a week ago and will just evaluate Elemental when it comes out.
I'm not going to lie- this post almost got me to preorder. Almost...
*attempts to appear shocked* ... *fails* The really sad thing is the number of people on forums who defend this crap as if they're actually going to get more content made for the game as result of these plans.
CIV5 and Elemental would probably work just fine on consoles. Adjusting controls and UI for a TBS for a console version is probably easier than for a RTS. Shame that consoles never get TBSes with hotseat mode...
They already kind of did that- they called it Civilization Revolution. But Firaxis still simplified the game a bit (whether that was due to UI/control concerns or intended market, I'll let you decide). I only played the

Awesome. I really thought the game had died in terms of support. I still play it offline (I've put in 18 hours and never once went online...I'm not sure whether my connection would ruin the experience for others) so I hope this adds maybe a map or two as well as tweaking the game more.
Quoting AXidenTAL, reply 14I personally don't understand all the Steam hate, especially the Civ fans who aren't willing to give it a go... I can understand not liking DRM, but to me Steam is probably the only type which I actually like with all the community stuff built around it etc... It's not that we hate steam per-say, but we hate being FORCED to have it installed, and not able to play without it, or a connection to the net. This mea
Well TC, I wish at some level I could be more like you. But for now, I can't even bring myself to order Elemental at all, let alone discard Civ5 in favor of it. I'm far too much of a history buff (and generally dislike fantasy) to do it. And Elemental has this really crazy thing going on, while I fully understand what Civ5 is going to be about. I really wish I understood how Elemental worked. Hopefully a demo will get released in a more timely manner than Demigod. [quote who="
Actually they've had that for at least a few weeks. I used it on the first week of that several-week long sale that just recently ended. It's nothing fantastic- nice looking but a bit high of ram usage to run all the time for my blood (well, if I actually had friends on the net, then it may be useful).

The new Steam client is often better- usually hovering between 6-12mb of ram. However, when it online mode, it can randomly (and I do mean randomly) balloon. Usually it gets into the 50mb territory, with it once going up to 100mb. This is me not playing a game (or touching it), the Steam overla

You can just go into your game folder and launch it via the startup .exe and never have to even start Steam. this is one-time only internet activation for DRM. Ubisoft is the one producing games you have to be online all the time to play, settlers 7, Silent hunter 5, and all other current and future Ubisoft titles you have to be online all the time to play. I'm not in the beta nor have I preordered (probably won't even buy, but we'll see), but if I recall correctly, you had to pre-order by a certain date to get into the current round of beta testing....which from what I'm to understand, isn't fun anyway. However, and I may be wrong, I recall hearing that there would be a second round of beta-entry for preordering customers at a later date. If that's still in the cards, then you'd get into that round of it. Again, I'm trying to re
