I don't think I'd ever use this feature, but it seems to have a lot of support here, so what they hey... as long as it doesn't take too much time from developing other features, more options for the player is always a good thing. To throw in my 2 cents... I would much rather start playing on the full sized world map right away. I don't like the idea of "unlocking" portions of the map by "winning" certain discrete stages of the game. Say that I have a small kingdom on
But, my infantry should be able to try to occupy the enemy long enough for my heavy cavalry to get away, too.
That sounds like a great idea, which would fit in well with Eplekongen 's post above. I like it. As I'm currently in the middle of Steven Erikson's "Malazan Empire" books, I think that it'd be a great mechanic if after a disastrous campaign, the one up-side to your defeat would be the fact that the handful of surviving units (who have made it through hell) might now yield heroes that you could then put in charge of your green recruits. Or maybe they would be pissed off with you enough to go off and join a rival faction...

I have to say that I love the cloth map. However, the zoomed in screenshots look really bare and empty to me. I know that these are really early, and the world will become more vibrant as development progresses, but here's my suggestion: I want to see my kingdom grow and develop on the zoomed-in map. I don't want to just have a large city surrounded by empty countryside and maybe only a few points of interest, as is currently the case. I want to see villages an
