One thing we could do is make a sort of spirit summoner. Since I figured out how to turn 3d objects in E:wom transparent. So we could more or less use all the current models, just transparent, and call them spirit of *. Maybe add a new skin with some ritualistic bindings or stuff like that.
That sounds excellent. If you can show me how to mask out a model like that only show the parts of a skin I want I should be able to do us a

Especially when the fixes would be pretty easy. It doesn't have to be this major overhaul, it just needs some tweaks. There might be "patches" for WoM still, but I wouldn't expect any content updates aside from what mods are out.
Banned, for the OP for starting yet another one of these when we already have one and the point of the first one is to keep it going....I think.
I, for one, never found the dynasty system very engaging. It added zero strategic depth to the game, and was just annoying the way it popped out kids with the name of "Goofelbrod" or "Invetsibloghjoyuryal." I have no interest in seeing this aspect of the game return unless it makes some kind of strategic impact on gameplay.
I agree the names got annoying. I would say getting more generals that you don't have to
I don't want to wait for an "Expansion" to FE to get them back though. I still remember when the Chief started talking about giving the buyers of Elemental a free game he said the next Two games Stardock did they'd give to the players for free. Somehow though I think we'll be paying for the expansion of FE. Mostly because the company needs to recoup some money, not because Brad would go back on what he said. I don't even think I'd want to hold him to the whole "two games"
What's the point to this article, it's not even a review of the beta? It's just talking about everything everyone knows...
I think the only good thing about the article really is that it's getting the name "Fallen Enchantress" out there. Since the game is coming together so well I'd say the next big concern Stardock should have would be to get the word out so people can see for themselves how awesome the game i
I could go either way. Having played both systems, having just one queue seems to work good for FE. I could see a late-game building or tech though that could unlock or grant a separate unit production queue. That might be a good way to add some city specialization. The player could only have one city that would specialize in unit production. If that doesn't happen though I think I'm ok with the current system. I'd rather see more city specialization than have two queues b
As such it is my guess that they plan on bringing it back at some point later on since they already have most of the code for it built into FE
I would tend to agree, but, we don't know for sure exactly. If the new design mandate for FE doesn't utilize Dynasties they may not put forth the effort to bring them in officially and it may be left to us modders to bring them into the game. Personally I think that would be a huge was
I notice the article talks about "lost faith" and such. In my eyes I never really lost too much faith in Stardock even with Elemental. Why? Because like many Stardock fans, I've been with them and their games for years. They've done a lot of good things. Every person, and every company, makes mistakes. Not every person and especially not every company actually go out of their way to make up for past mistakes. Most companies, like EA, or even other smaller indie companies
Note: I tried messaging the Chief (Frogboy) to see if I can get some info out of him on the possible dynasty come-back. I can't promise he'll answer or say anything "official" but maybe we can get some general info out of him on whether or not we'll see them come back as a normal (non-modded) part of the game.
Agreed except on the " I just don't think that they are interested in making the dynasty system work." part. I only say that because even though I've seen tons of other posts in other threads about bringing back the Dynasty System, I haven't really seen a concentrated effort to show the Devs how large the player base that wants to see dynasties return actually is. I also haven't really seen them say much about it except for Boogie showing us how to re-enable them in the X
banned for assuming no one cares even though they most likely don't lol. Hmmm... On second thought, banning my-self for agreeing that no one cares.
I'd say Renevent's concerns are all pretty valid. I my-self am a little worried that some of the memory leaks in E:WoM might make their way into FE. Even on my massively powerful gaming rig on Large and Huge maps in E:WoM starting in turns around 700 to 900 I would start getting OOM crashes and even when loading certain saved games I would only get 10 or 20 turns in before the game would crash again with the same memory issue. This made playing large, epic scale games, very frus
I didn't even see the spell to corrupt a node. I must have missed that.
I thought I would start this thread so the Devs could see at a glance what the community would like to see from the re-incorporation of Dynasties into the game and the fears we have about preventing possible abuse and keeping the system a fun part of the game-play experience. Please help by providing your thoughts on what you'd like to see and any changes you think might make the system more fun and ways to prevent it from going down the wrong path and preventing it's abuses fro
Do you know if it's possible to change the behaviour of monster lairs? So they could grow over time for instance, or send out raiding parties?
I believe they already do send out raiding parties. I've seen a Troll Lair spit out 3 seperate Troll Armies from the same lair over the coarse of a game.
Excellent work brother. I haven't even cracked open the XML yet so it's good to know what's going to be possible. I'm getting excited :) .
As long as there's still someone/somewhere to continue hosting/displaying the 80% of all the images on the net which are of naked women...then the Net will survive just fine....
I'd say that depends. If those naked women's images are copyrighted they'll be gone too. Truly though, if they scour all the porn off the internet there will be revolutions world wide lol.
Banned for using cool mythological historical references.
The maps on FE seem to be a lot smaller, even though they are much richer. Playing on the "Large" setting in FE seems to feel like the "Medium" setting on WoM. Definitely going to have to try some custom map sizes soon.
I was so just about to photoshop a possum face onto a picture of the crucifiction...lol. To much work for a quick joke though, so you're safe....for now.

Indeed, good idea. I'll have to remember this when it comes time for posting more topics. This should definitely be stickied if we're going to follow naming conventions.
