I had this exact same problem recently. After an (significant) amount of suggestions from Stardock support, and some tinkering on my own, I discovered there were a couple of things going on. First, I did actually have a bad stick of RAM - probably should've caught that one earlier. Second, my router was partially faulty. It's my experience that the MD5 error just means something was lost or corrupted along the way, be it from security software, bad RAM, faulty net

Problem solved - for me at least. After testing numerous things with the (generous) assistance of Stardock support, and wiping my OS (for good/overkill measure), I decided it was time to start testing outside of my computer. Lo and behold, the problem was a partially faulty router. I replaced the router with an old one I had lying around, and the problem instantly went away. Hope this helps at least one other person.
I'm having what's probably the same issue as you. I install a vanilla copy of sins (from the dvd) and when I try to update, Impulse tells me there's a file size mismatch (MD5 error). I've reinstalled, and disabled my antivirus/firewall just to be sure - and I got the same error. I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with my install being at v1.00 ... so ... my question is, "what gives?"
Thanks everyone
Suggestions - consider making a checkbox option where the phase lanes, health, & other suchwhat are always visible. Oh, also, consider making the white phase lanes for wormholes visible in the same way as usual phase lanes. Have tight clumps of ships auto-drift apart a bit more, big battles tend to be a cluster#@$% and sometimes a bunch of ships can't even move. Praise - Beautiful animation & effects. Seems like good balance (in the vanilla version, at least)
OK, the forge tools also don't work on my laptop or other PC, is anyone else running into this problem?
OK, I've finally gotten the Forge Tools downloaded, and over the last few days it has been complaining about missing .dll files. I've reinstalled directX and located said files that were to have been missing and they are present. The program appears to not be finding the files though. I've moved those files to the SYS32 folder and it complained about them being in the wrong area, so I put them where the game said they should be (in the game folder) and the original error came back. &n
