Sounds great! Looks to be a big improvment to how things are now. I really like the way cities look in this game, makes them look a lot more interesting than in most games like this.
my current concern is that you have too many buildings, my hope is that buildings will end up as more unique than what they are now because, for example, as far as i can see there is no reason what so ever to build: Conclaves, Emporiums or Town Councils, to say nothing of the buildings which seem to have no function (yet) such as granaries and warehouses.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the granary increase the out

I just saw some people posting they had 3 hour games going etc... and I was curious if I was doing something wrong
No wrong way to play it, I still haven't won a single game yet [e digicons]:)[/e] I think most people are just having fun exploring. Trying to kill some of the stronger monsters can be somewhat challenging, at least you will need to research some stuff and l
The Fallen will have their own set of graphics, while I'm not sure if the factions will have variations to their buildings. However, you do have the building editor when it comes out, so you can create your very own buildings to look just the way you want them.
That's a pretty good idea, would make the cities become a lot more organic instead of the strange square look things get now.
How are some of you getting the game to last so long? My longest game so far is 1hour 15mins and I have conquered both AI's.... I have tried not to find them but everytime I stumble across them somehow while out exploring and then they decide to attack me... so I kill them... I guess my only option is to just sit tight and let them send wave after wave of troops at me and never go take over their city?
Well
The battle of Agincourt is famous for the effect the terrain had upon the outcome of the battle, with the French knights being defeated while slogging through the mud against the English longbowmen. Terrain has always been important in warfare, and many a battle has been decided by where it was fought. While the tactical battles haven’t been revealed yet, I thought it would be interesting with a little discussion on the terrain itself. Having played the splendid new beta for a w
Sounds great! Too bad I'm going to be busy tomorrow night, stupid social life... Oh well, hopefully it'll be out before then.
A good point, but as far as I can understand, magic is going to be implemented in the beta that is hopefully coming out today, fingers crossed! So I'm guessing we should be getting a better idea of the magic system with that beta. That being said, it really is important to get magic right, considering how important it will probably be in game.

So I wouldn't worry to muc
I don't really like the Winner takes all approach either, as it would inevitably lead to a lot of posturing and very little actual fighting. With regards to t he Randomization vs Richness debate i agree it would be most fun to have some landmarks that have premade maps, as well as cities having at least the same random map for them, this would be kind of what they did in the Total War series. It would feel slightly strange to fight over the same castle several times wi
That's kind of what I'm thinking as well, would be fun if you could actually bet on adventuring as a legitimate strategy in the game. Would be a very different type of strategy compared to most tbs games. Curious to find out how the Master Quest (or whatever it's called) is going to work, I'm guessing that's tied to the adventure tech tree in some way as well. Oh, and about magical items, here's hoping their actually unique and special. To be honest I'd rather have less of them and ha
I honestly don't think this will be much of a problem. You guys have been completely open about the process throughout, and explained why you are doing what you are doing. Plus, people are going to caught up with the all the new shiny stuff in the game to be mad at you. Getting mad at you guys now would be like a kid getting mad at his parents because he got his present on Christmas morning instead of two weeks earlier when they bought it [e digicons]:P[/e]
The heartblade sounds like a nice reward for killing a dragon, apart from all the other cool loot I'm sure you'll find in the dragon's hoard. On the topic of special items, or magical items, if they are in the game I would like to see the adventuring techs give you an edge in finding these hidden treasures, as this means it won't be entirely luck based. Sending out skilled adventures all across the land to hunt down those ancient artifacts of power would be a lot of fun.
I agree with the separation of experience and essence. Essence should be something special, and difficult to obtain. There should be ways to gain essence from both staying at home, and adventuring. I really like the idea of getting essence when you kill someone that has essence from before, absorbing a part of it for yourself, this means you could make a mean assasin type sovereign sneaking around and killing people. Perhaps shards could be used in generating essence, this might make
Great idea! Not sure if it would be feasible, but it sure would be fun, and I agree that it seems to fit with the lore of the world. the channelers as mad scientists sounds fantastic. Considering that they are going to allow (unless things have changed) breeding between different fallen, and fallen and human with regards to the dynasty this might not be too far off. At the very least you could attempt to cross-breed different creatures you have captured. just imagine a half troll-half bear, o
I think 100 materials will at least avoid city spam in the early stages of the game. 100 materials at the start of the game is pretty significant, especially considering all the other uses of materials. I guess the exact number would need to be tweaked a little, but the idea seems sound to me. I do feel that essence should still be a cost in creating a new city, or to put it a bit more accurately as a way to revive the land. Hopefully you will need to balance the creation of cities with all t
My goodness, talk about fantastic news! And I'll be done with all my exams before release hopefully. Ah, life is good[e digicons]:)[/e]
I vote yes, game seems stable to me, I can even load my saved games now!
I like the Vizier name, suitably archaic. Other suggestions would be Bursar, or simply Treasurer.
That's true, But, the Kingdoms don't %100 Have To Concentrate on War. The Kingdoms can "Win" through Diplomacy and forming Alliances, it can win through Magical Research, I'm sure there are other ways a Kingdom faction can win as well, Without NEEDING to Rely On Warfare. That's all I'm afraid of. I don't want the Empire Factions to HAVE TO RELY on nothing but Warfare as that seems very limiting.
This is a con
This sounds great! I love how it seems like the Empires are going to play completely different from the kingdoms. Great idea with the building of specialized units in warfare and magic as well. Can't wait to get my grubby little hands on these Empires [e digicons][/e]
No matter what we will have: The War of Magic campaign The 10 canon factions The 10 canon backstories Random House is producing a lot of content for the game. The question is where best to put this content. I could spend a year just making quests where each quest is its own adventure unto itself. But obviously doing that sort of thing means I'm not working on something else. Those are the
I'm going to be voting for lore here, I want to see the factions and races that make it into the game be full of flavour. I just feel that while some level of customization is great, there is always the danger of everything becoming a bit too bland. Spore is a great example of this, were you had tons of customization options, but the creatures were only skin deep, under the surface they were almost the same. So I'd prefer some fleshed out factions and races with lots of lore and ind
