Here is why a karma system would never work: I think most people quit a game early because they think the outcome has already been decided. It is not fun to play a strategy game if you think there is no strategy that will win you the game, so people quit. Now you want to motivate these people to do something that is not fun (stay in the game) to get some reward (getting favor points, avoid punishment etc). There is a word for doing something y
As an interim solution, simply make it so if you have to put bots in a game, make is so they give very little (or no) XP/Gold to the team that killed them. Having no bot at all, or a bot that feeds the enemy constantly are both very big extrememes. In the future, after all the new AI mods come out, and the AI is imporved, then you could reset xp/gold bonuses back to normal if needed.
I
Why did it take 3 weeks to fix?
Please do not say it is fixed until at least 3v3 games are the norm in pantheon/skirmish. I don't like to play without matchmaking and the best I can get is a 2vs2 matchup. So it is all fail for me until this point, and I'm sure I annoy some people by aborting connection attempts or leaving games after they started because it it's only a 2vs2 matchup. I miss the 'we will never put you in a game with less than 6 hu
I did notice that there where no sales numbers in that post. "#3 at retail in the united states in one week" - What does that mean? "majority of units sold were digital sales" - How many copies are we talking about here? I would love to know how many copies a game like Demigod sells in Digital Destribution compared to retail.
just a few quick additions to your notes:
3) You would have to pay to play online.
that would be $78 each year for me here in Austria.
err.. blogspot.. neoseeker.... nonames.
"blogspot" is only a blog provider (and everything but noname - that's google). out of eight is not a noname. Not mainstream like IGN or Gamespot of course, but still well known (and the reviews are a lot better than these two). However: sites that gives scores to games are always dubious. So it really does not matter what percentage you find on that review.</
I'm sure Demigod runs fine on a console and with a controller, but this is really not the issue here. A PC is not simply a console that is often used with a mouse and keyboard. A console is a appliance and the PC is an open development environment. On the PC, Stardock can make a game and then sell that game directly to me. On a console they cannot do that. If you understood how <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki
If a player quits, he or she gets no favor. That way, there is a real incentive to stay in the game.
I'm not opposed to this idea, but I don't think it will solve the problem with quitters. If I play multiplayer games I try to influence the outcome of the game, and I want the game to end as soon as this is no longer possible. I don't care about 'favor points', and my guess is that many people (also think outside these forums) feel the same way. Th
Game's chat should DEFAULT to having a language filter on and have an option to turn it off.
a language filter may work for people who are offended by certain words like "fuck", but they are absolutely worthless against offensive people. You can troll and be offensive without "bad" words. Also, many people use the word fuck in absolutely non-offensive ways. Let them.
TMA has another episode about Demigod : http://flashofsteel.com/index.php/2009/04/21/three-moves-ahead-episode-9-brad-wardell-demigod-elemental-and-a-prize/ This time they have Brad Wardell on board, and they interview him about the network problems.
"If I'm wrong then please somebody explain to me where is the role-playing part so I can appreciate it as it was mentionned on the box of the game" Unless you're rich, you should not buy something based on what's on the box, or how the company that wants your money markets the game. Do your own research bevor you buy a game. Youtube had gameplay videos from the beta since fall '08. You could have googled for "DotA", the word that is mentioned in more or less every preview of t
I manage to get into a game about half the time i try to connect. My failure rate however is 100%, because everytime I get into a game, I end up with less than 4 (human) players, so I have to disconnect and try again. This is from Austria,Vienna. And, like most Europeans, I am behind a DSL connection. Let's see what the proxy solution is going to change for me.
What about the other way around: Does a Demigod get gold/experience when he kills one of my minions? I'm not sure if it is a good idea to throw minions at the enemy when this only makes him stronger.

"Every time I lose, I stay in it until I lose it." I havn't been able to play much online yet, but if a game is decided I expect the losing party to surrender/quit.Yes, it is annoying that the winner has to finish the game against the AI. And it is a serious problem if the game does not count a surrender/quit as a lost. I just want to point out that these are flaws in the game that need to be fixed - There is nothing wrong with giving up a lost fight.
I wrote the first demigod review on amazon.de two days ago. It contained 6 paragraphs describing the game + 1 paragraph mentioning that it’s only 30,- on impulse. Amazon posted the first 6 paragraphs :(
"Europe exists!" That is actually a lie, probably part of some great government conspiracy or something. I'm standing here at the place where Vienna, Austria is supposed to be, but there is nothing here but a black void.

http://search.twitter.com/search?q=Pirates+crack+Demigod+(PC)+before+release+date It guess "retailer releases game too early" or "publisher releases game without copy protection" was not sensational enough for a headline, so 'filenetwork' came up with this one. [...] [e digicons];P[/e]
