Hi, I'm wondering if Ashes will use more than 16Gb of RAM on large maps with many players and units. I'm building a computer and wondering if I should get 32Gb or just 16.

Thanks for responding and planning to fix that bug and remove the power indicator. I agree that being able to see enemy regions does not really allow you to directly see what tech and unit compositions your opponent has, but it still does allow you to tell that something was there and about how many resources and what kind they are getting without scouting them. From the time of the game, the situation of everything going on, and where the region is at it could provide you the info yo
Another form of free info are the player power indicators in the top right of the screen (although they aren't as useful in a 1v1 match as in a many player match). Does anyone agree with me or are these forms of free espionage actually beneficial for the game? I don't think they are because they make it more difficult to be sneaky with your units and plans, and it decreases the importance of scouting and having to think critically about what your opponent(s) is doing.
I don't like any form of free info on your enemies, and so I believe that the ability to see who owns what resource generators should not be visible until you've scouted them and it should show who owned it the last time you scouted it. Also, it should not show you weapon projectiles in the fog of war as it is dumb that you can see about how many and what kind of units someone has without actually scouting them.
Agreed. I hate any form of free info on other players. Okay, technically espionage by trade requires universal translator and initially finding other civilizations, but that's not taxing on your time and resources unless they're out of your range. I also know that the graphs are another form of free espionage. Also, I believe the new report and stats screens in the govern screen could also be another form of free espionage (I'm not sure though as I haven't had a good look at them as I don't h

Hi, sometimes fleets will be off the center of a space. I am not sure if it does this with only one ship in a space though. Also, if I remember correctly, sometimes if I right click on the space the fleet will instantly switch over to the center of the tile. The game is on a small map with only the AI and I (there used to be another AI that I set to start allied with the other AI, and there are still some starbases left over from him). Also, I have the graphics settings set to full except for
Hi, sometimes when the Iconian drones on my planets are attacked the 3d/map graphic of the planet will disappear after the battle. I have only done quick battles for these though so I'm not sure if it would occur after I played out a full battle, and I am not sure if it occurs only when Iconian drones are fighting or not. Also, I can still interact with and enter the manage planet screen by clicking on the invisible planet. It has been occurring since about turn 75-80 I believe, and it is
Thank you for the answer.
I have tried this again and it is still doing it, but it only appears to be writing to the disk in the download section, not actually downloading anything. I might not have noticed this at the time of my first post as well. Also, I noticed that it only says that it is missing 1 file and that it will be reacquired after I run and exit the game. If I verify the files two or more times without running the game it will say on the second and subsequent times that all files were successfully verifi
Same here, and my system is beyond recommended specs.
The sounds in the game are very inconsistent for me. Sometimes it crackles. Other times when I click on units it plays their selection sound very quietly, but if I click on it multiple times the sound will play more loudly and clearly each time. How can I fix these problems?
When I verify the files it says it is missing one file and that it will be reacquired. When I check out the downloads section it says that it downloaded about 160 kb. But it does this again whenever I verify the files. Does anyone know what's going on here?
Thanks for answering.
Hi, I have heard that DirectX 12 supports using your integrated and discrete video card together for better performance compared to just using your discrete one. I have an intel 3570k cpu and an EVGA 670 FTW 2GB video card. Would I need to install the drivers for both the integrated (the one in the cpu) and the discrete cards to get them to work together in DirectX 12, or only the discrete one?
Hi, I do not have this game but am interested in it. I watched a video showing gameplay of it, and I believe I saw that the techs upgrade instantly when you purchase it. Also, the global abilities are instantly applied once you activate them. I personally have thought to myself that it seems like allowing things to be applied, built, purchased, ect. instantly are not good things to have in a strategy game because they sometimes might allow you to not think strategically/plan ahead when you pl
Perhaps instead of calling it coercion a better word for it might be restriction because if you have set the production wheel(s) to 33/33/33% your population is still being coerced anyways by their government to do work in some way for it, but assuming that 33% of people would prefer to manufacture for their government rather than the other two, 33% desire to research for their government rather than the other two, and the last 33% desire to increase wealth for their government rather than th
This all sounds very interesting, but I want to make sure about something with the coercion idea. You say that setting wheel(s) to 100% production of, say, research, is coercion, and I agree with this. But isn't keeping the wheel(s) at 33,33,33% production amounts still coercion? You're still forcing your population to do certain jobs if I'm not mistaken. Again, I just want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly, and I enjoy reading your ideas on the future of the game.
Wow. This all looks really great and I'm very excited to see and play with these things. I have a question about the new starbase system, though. Is it going to be changing things in such a way that reduces micromanagement, changes gameplay balancing, or a mix of both. To clarify on what I mean by gameplay balancing will it change the effective power of starbases and all things closely related to them (like constructors and starbase techs). I'm just curious, that's all. Th

[quote who="Yarlen" reply="1" id="3548736"] Currently we've been playtesting with most things unlocked at game start; and limited by resource costs. So far this has been feeling pretty good, but the most deadly stuff will be gated by research. We'll see if this holds up as time goes on, but it's working so far. I'm recommending that the developers have multiple units, structures, and (possibly) upgrades available to choose and build from the very beginning of the match. One of the things I love about Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance is that right when you place down, say, a land factory you'll have about six units to choose from and build. This has more strategic depth and makes the opening more interesting compared to having, say, only a construction/resource unit from the sta
I would recommend reading this thread https://forums.galciv3.com/463924 . It's quite a long read and I can understand if you won't be able to make all the changes (if you think any need to be made) before release you would like that result from reading this thread, but I believe the discussion in it is pretty important. It has to do with the economy system and economy specialization. Thank you.

Cool, I'm looking forward to it. I enjoy hearing developer's thoughts on their games, seeing what they're working on, and watching them play.
