But the Fallen have Trolls!
The fallen own Psychoravin? That explains everything! As for the pic at the top, I must say that I am truly disappointed in the corrupted dark world look: It just looks volcanic. Where are the carnivorous trees? Where are the emaciated predatory dinos? I was envisioning something more along the lines of Dark Aether , for those Prime 2 fans out there.
Banned for banning disturbance. It's the death panels next, I tell ya!
Depends of game rating? If they complain for nipples or little drops of blood...
Well, the people who would get mad about incest (doesn't "Mad About Incest" sound like a great name for a country/rock band?) would be mad anyway just because of the channeler's general ability to procreate...
I certainly hope that "magic is finite" refers to essence and not mana.... having a completely finite mana pool with which to cast spess would be a royal pain.....
Banned for double-posting and not correcting it.
Banned for calling The Game silly.
I don't recall draconians in Moria (we're talking old ASCII dungeon crawler right?)
I know there weren't draconians in Moria, I was just thinking of one of the more improbable "derivative" mods that will probably be created once the game comes out.
and possibly the ultimate would be to produce a born channeler descendant! (Possible victory condition?).
Not sure if this would be a victroy condition or one of theose unvictory conditions.... could go either way, but I definitely like the idea however it turns out.
On the inheritance question, I'd prefer to see the default mechanics map to the back story and I'd hope that the back story has enough variety among the canon factions to suit the tastes of both 'traditional patriarchal' types and folks who expect different gender ideas in a world where magic is more important than upper body strength.
Good stuff, but you should of course be able to change your faction's heredity system to better fit your playstyle. Or at least have a c
Bannizzled fo' gangsta slang!
Could concievably work..... actually, this is an excellent idea! Just so the costs matched up in some way...... in fact, with a simple linearly increasing research cost, you've got your diminishing returns right there! Excellent thought!
If you're typing about dragons, I haven't gotten my point across to you. I want them to be treated on the level of independent powers/factions, not 'creatures.'
Now I see what you mean.... yes, dragons-as-faction-entities would by necessity have to have at least basic backstory behind them.
MOM, LOTR, heck, probably even Dwarf Fortress and Moria! This is going to be big.
I don't think Forrest Gump said that. But tghen again I don't believe anything you say, so it doesn't really matter either way.
From a practical, gameplay mechanic POV, you would either have to be able to choose the sex of your child in advance, or have women be largely identical to men in the job capabilities area: a 50% chance of getting a far less useful descendant is waaay too much of a TBRWITS situation for my liking.
Banned for rioting. (Kinda saw that coming, didn't ya?)
Banned for thinking numbers can be super.
When strikesback5 first came here, I posited that (s)he might have some sort of mental issue that prevents him/here from relating to things outside of his/her narrow obsessions... or something. I don't really know why or how. I'm not a psychiatrist, but those posts really reminded my of several borderline-autistic people at my school.
This idea seems scary. Indefinite hardware cutoffs send shivers down my spinal column.
Indeed. I rarely take Psychoravin seriously, but in this case I think he's at least not intentionally trying to troll, so I feel safe in saying that while the steamroller effect is a problem, cheaty "luck" is not a very good solution. Plus (s)he describes the stack using terms we aren't even sure will be in the game.
Banned for accusing me of breaking a one-post chain.
Do you mean a spell costs a certain percent of your total mana? I don't care for that at all, if that is what you are suggesting. That completely goes against the idea of building a large mana pool.
Not for all spells... just the nes you specifically don't want to be made easier for a mana-horder to cast. Diminishing returns on some aspects of the spell system certainly wouldn't hurt.
Banned for full-frontal banning.
One thing I would like to see is a percent cost for some spells, as opposed to jsut numbers. Also variable costs where you can choose the limitations on the spell and affect its other stats.
