I'm having the same issue on game load with Win XP 32bit, 2GB Ram.

Actually, it's not a particular save. When I start up the game again and load the save it crashed on, it loads fine. I generally notice the issue after playing for awhile. If still needed, I can upload a save.

I don't particularly like the art. I think it makes the terrain look empty or sparce but that could be related to earliness in the game development cycle. It does remind me a bit of Wind Waker or Super Mario Bros. No offence intended.
