You see? Not only Bears can look cool. The armor is also very nice.
I don't think anybody ever said that bears were the only cool creature. though Big-cat mounts have had enough center piece from warcraft 3 and WoW. Not to mention Amazon Sabertooth riders and other similar archetypes. They are pretty fearsome for sure. It makes me think of Tigertron from Beast wars ^_^ Bears have less spot

See now, I'd say the victor is the 3rd party... the necromancer riding puppies! Honestly, a vs. contest (especially between those two) is a little silly. In a fight who will win... a pink space pony or a bear.... well, that's pretty one sided. Especially a bear with a armed soldier on top. Sure the ponies could possibly retreat to space, but that still is losing in my book (retreat = defeat. It even rhymes)

Well, the skysharks are up on the avatar page. I'm sure stardock understands that people all want to see their own fantasy creatures. Everybody knows that you can't just listen to the "loud" members of forums, since usually the happy ones are the ones that make the least noise. However, I think its pretty clear that everybody loves a bear. Look at winter song's image, a horrible bear with a gun protecting a little girl. Be

One of the sharks is from a surfing california ad. The other is from what appears to be a screensaver. I created the sad guy being about to be eaten by a shark a long time ago, but didn't post it because I wasn't sure if it was public license or not + not many beyond myself seemed particularly excited about sky sharks. Anyway, for more avatars for those who have none! I proudly present the only thing that might almost be as scary as an army ri

I had planned to stay out of this, but I want to voice my opinion because I relized part of it seems to particuly address me. I only support the bear idea because everybody seems to like bears and they are pretty cool. I don't think it causes harm, so why is there a problem? I like bears, who doesn't like bears. Also, I have plans for sky shark and pink ponies avatars, thank-you-very-much. If you want something other than bear cavalry, just ask. I'm
How about simply representing the fact that cities can't feed themselves
Now, I always felt that should happen. Like when I've basically blockaded a city on an island (capturing every other part of the island) and I just don't quite have the man-power to take the last town, but do have the man-power to keep the previous owner away (this happens ALL the time for me in Civ games) I should be able to setup a blockade that does something. Something that takes fo

I really like the fact that more mana is used to channel spells over great distances, and at the same time I like the domain/influence idea of AoW. I think we should have a mix of them, like free casting in a wizard's domain with strain of mana (increase cost) for those outside the influence based on distance from caster. I like pigeonpigeon's discussion of different levels per mana input. I think the whole channeling of extra mana to give more effects was cool in Mo

Luckmann posted a picture somewher on the forums (I've forgotten where actually... shame on me, I should have copied it for reference). The point it is that it was more bear cav, so I had to create more bear cav avatars from it. 2 more, or MOUR! as a bear might say. <img src="http://landiscasner.com/images/stuff/sandbear.png" alt="" widt

If I remember correctly, Frogboy has written than non-sentient creatures couldn't be part of your troops by themselves. But will it be possible to have animals with handlers? And if yes, will the handlers be able to release the animals during the battle?
</

Personally, I like being able to deticate certain amounts of CPU to pathfinding. I know that makes it hard for things like multiplayer games, but I like to do it. I can think of very few games that allowed for that (baulder's gate being the only one I remember notably changing anything). I figure I should be able to adjust it the way I do my Chess AIs. Or at least have an option for a 'custom AI' that has different settings. The game tha

Reply to AI Diplomacy in WOM Ideas

So now we have to consider these players in work. We can then assume that the AI diplomats will work just like humans, no SoaSE like missions per se, because they will be acting like humans do. So, it makes me wonder just how robust this AI is going to be. I mean they would have to come up with a quite a bit of different responces if they are going to act even remotely like players. Especially if you are going to have diffrent personalities.

I'm pretty sure its because they want to test some even lower level features. i.e. something that needs to be working before the june beta. Don't get too excited, because it probebly means there will be less actual features of the 1stbeta (even though it will be earlier)

but pink space ponies ARE in SoaSE. there is a very small random chance they will be found on a planet when explored. They do nothing but exist. They give an achievement or something like that too. It was first brought up as a random suggestion in a "what units do you want to see in elemental" thread. It stayed because I think everobody deep inside just wants to ride a bear. Just like everybody wants to be an astronaught, they also want to ride

Reply to population in WOM Ideas

I personally support the notion of having population growth be a variable set at the begining of the game. Just at game creation you can choose a speed at which population increases. That way if you want a marathon game, you can, but if you want a fast game that doesn't have much time wasted while you wait for cities to grow to a managable size it can go pretty fast.

Manzikert perhaps, but I think even that battle was resolved in a single day as the Byzantines were routed trying what you suggest), however I do know that the number of Medieval battles that started at sunrise, went on till dark, then had both sides retire to fight again the next day were insignificant when compared to the medieval bat

I agree with having portals that are expensive and require a good amount of upkeep. I mean, they are pretty darn powerful and they save you from having to cast 'teleport dudes' every turn (I'm saying 'dude' a lot today... too much disgea I suspect) even though it would be from fixed points. Part of the reason I want it is because not only does it make moving across the map MUCH easier (like when you have a city on a new continent and you are trying to expand. Ferrying your

I'm in support in all options. I want way gates (HoMM style) wizard towers (MoM style) plane walkers (D&D style?) teleport spells (everthing) super speed things that seem to move instantly (uh... the Flash? and air elementals from MoM) random holes (subtle knife style? insert cave to another world here)
I don't think there should be a whole other plane with cities and resources, that would be too much of a MoM rip off..
I tho

All I care about is that I can flee if I am attacked. I understand the idea of an ambush and the fact that the attackers would be trying to cut off retreats, but seriously. Like if my scout riders is walkin' down the road exploring, and an army of death knights on bears attacks them, they should be able to turn tail and run away. Black Bears can get up to 30mph apparently (and death bears might be worse) but at least a few might be able to escape provided its

@pigeonpigeon > now that would be an interesting event. Your mention of ents or djynns runnin' around. Something that could happen when you create a new city. A local beast is angered by the townsfolk encrouching on its land and starts a rampage through the country side. A little unrealated, but I think it would add to the feeling of taking wild barren world and trying to re-convert it to something with expansive cities. Naturally nature (wild beasts
