Had the same issue, crashed around 40 turns in. I uploaded to Dropbox but I'm not sure where to get the download link and am not seeing it in the "reporting bugs" threads. Great way to kill any kind of community momentum for a game. I got my email an hour ago or so as well. 50% downloaded!

I just got an email saying "thanks for purchase" which means they charged me....which means Beta 3 must be live?

Preordered a day too late to get into Beta 2, cannot wait for 3 to start. Hopefully tomorrow?
