i feel that if you increased the mana cost then it'll actually make a big difference. If you have all your people in 1 blob, then all i need is a relatively week army to capture your towns, and i'll just send one every few turns to ensure that you burn up all you mana on teleporting around. Cheap high movement units can easily capture your towns if you go with massive blob idea and you'll quickly burn up your mana. The AI i noticed likes sending pointlessly weak groups at

+ Repeatable improvements now increase with cost as more are built. Question : Why are tech knowledge buildings capped at 1 per tier, and not arcane knowledge buildings? (personally i would prefer the 1,3,6,10,15 that was told we'd get per level instead of 1,2,3,4,5 but i'm ok with that so far) + Special buildings now longer required to build special units. Instead, these buildings provide bonuses (i.e. no need for a command post to train groups)
Actually, Tarth does train archers and hence I always have tarth as an enemy because like you said, 3 archers pretty much owns everything. I really wish that the AI spends more time training archers AND using higher armor, i high armor opponent might actually be able to make it to my dudes and do significant damage, but as it is 2 shots and everything basically goes down
