Excellent original post, many thanks for your critical insights and the time it took to share them. My take is that the gameplay in Elemental evolved over time and was always a moving target. The UI evolved along side it, and as such, it a patchwork mess. While the suggestions in the original post are all bang-on, I think Stardock needs to take a hammer to the UI, not a scalpel. Someone should sit down and just re-design the whole damn thing from scratch. Then it will actually

Sweet. Looks like I'm going to win the office pool. [e digicons]:erk:[/e]

YEAH! Just in time. I just cracked my first beer of the evening. [e digicons][/e] [e digicons]:waaaa:[/e] [e digicons][/e] Edit: only a 380MB update for those wondering.
Bring it on! I had to resort to yet another game of HOMM3 tonight to slake my thirst for turn-based goodness. Not that I haven't been enjoying Elemental 1Z! It's already starting to develop that addictive quality which is the hallmark of a fine TBS. [e digicons][/e]
Agreed with this suggestion. I was surprised by my first couple of playthroughs that you couldn't upgrade housing directly.
In for the long-haul. Haven't had much play time so far but Canadian winters are long and dreary hibernations quite conducive to lazy videogame evenings. And Stardock are great, I'm happy to contribute to the shaping of this game. I've been a long-time HOMM player but don't have much faith that Ubi is taking that series in the right direction. I'm hopeful that Elemental will become the new turn-based standard. Based on SoaSE and GalCiv, if anyone can do it its Stardock. And th
This frustrated me too until I figured out what the deal was. Under the glowing blue tab at the far left of the Impulse window make sure that "Show pre-release versions" is checked. Then head back to the "My Games" tab and Elemental should be there for download and install.
When I pre-ordered Elemental last night there was a very clear message that I'd be charged in my local currency ($Canadian) on the day the product "shipped". It even showed me what the current exchange rate was as of 9PM of the evening I placed my order AND warned me that some credit cards screw with the exchange rate or may insert additional fees. If anything I'd say that Stardock have been more transparent about foreign currency exchange rates than any other online service I've used
Hi all -- long time lurker, first time poster. I'm pumped about this game! With all the chatter about an immanent beta release I finally placed my order last night just a little after midnight EST. Alas, no email for me yet (9AM EST) but here's hoping by the end of the day. Elemental comes at just the right time for me. After tiring of Heroes of Might and Magic and Sins of a Solar Empire, and subsisting on King's Bounty for the last couple of weeks (which I have nearly
