If theres a more appropriate forum for this please move it, but I'm having a wicked problem with ALL saves corrupting semi-randomly. What seems to happen is I save, then try to reload (I'm still getting the hang of combat and such, so lots of save-reloading). On reload (after several reloads apparently) I end up with a file that only loads unit models but the map underneath is black. Then comes a full crash. Older save files do not fix the problem, which is som

Impressive. I might play with that for a while, see if it feels as fun as it sounds. What I feel worse about than this though, is that even if everything the community has asked for is implemented in record time, elemental will still bloom in the shadow of Civ 5. Not only does that kill the revenue stream, but given the enthusiasm of Civ modders and their community I imagine Elemental is going to lose many of the bright modding minds that make projects like the one you linke
The global resouces would be fine if unit production had more building dependence. Even something as simple as requiring a blacksmith before allowing the training of units with armor and weapons would solve the many of the problems. I'm not sure adding complex, caravan related math (I would enjoy it, but there are many who wouldn't) is the answer. Personally I would like to see more of the "unlockable resources." For example, requiring a mining tech before
By the way, my intent here isn't to berate or lash out at anyone. This is a harsh professional critique. I know stardock is capable of very good work, and I have a suspicion that their unfamiliarity with RPGs, over familiarity with 4X games, and the general difficulty of mixing genres, all are contributing to the unfocused and unstructured feel of the game. Those might be excuses, but excuses don't count for much in business. If they want to continue to be looked
Wow, post explosion. Sorry, I think a couple of you misunderstand the core of what I am driving at, so I'll try and distill it down without examples. 1.)Forcing the main character to give significantly of himself to integrate magic into an army violates the cardinal rule of RPG design: always make the player feel like their character is growing. Currently Elemental treats the sovereign's essence like any other resource, except this one is more rare and is replenished only throug
Having now invested many hours into playing this game, and almost an equal number of hours modding it, I have a few thoughts about where this game goes wrong and how it could be made right. Let me start by saying that Elemental, as it exists now, isn't even a gem in the rough. The whole thing, to its core, is flawed badly. Not just because “magic doesn't work” or “the game isn't
So here is my first release, a new level 4 quest with custom items, spells, and a few other goodies. Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?2lna9okckixhgax (If that isn't working let me know, I'll throw the file up somewhere else) Its not perfect, but I'm pretty sure the couple of issues left are engine-related and not bad code. As a note, I couldn't get this to work as a spawn
That looks like what I need, thanks a lot :) . Hopefully Stardock will come out with some published notes on this stuff or something, stumbling around like this gets a little tiring.
Sorry, I should have clarified. I meant a spell that hits all units on the battlefield, both friendly and enemy. All of the stuff I have played with seems to ignore friendly units by default. My ultimate goal was to create either a large board-covering aoe that hit both armies indescriminately, or a single target spell that hit an enemy (presumably for 2X damage or something), but also damaged (I tried downmodding constitution for the same effect) the caster for up to his in
Well so far the modding is going pretty well. Its a fairly intuitive system actually. The problem I'm having is I cant for the life of me get a spell that damages all units, or even just the caster and enemy units. Does anybody have an example spell that does this? There doesn't appear to be anything in-game that works this way (steal life doesn't work at all, I've tried adapting it)... Thanks in advance, I'm hoping to throw some of my goodie mods up on here soon
Hi! This is actually my first time modding a game straight from the files, so you'll have to forgive a little incompetence. I have a robe I have created and set up as basically a derivative of a "Padded Curiass," saved as part of the "CoreSpecialArmor" file and linking to a custom .png placed in the items folder with the rest of the images. It uses one of the basic robe animations for ingame visuals. My question is this: how do I get this to show up during soverign creation?
