Personally I think the customs charge should be calculated on the basis of the value of the goods themselves, which is $20 (of the $69.95 for the LE box set, $49.95 for the digital download - in fact the SD purchase page specifically identifies the upgrade cost as being $20). In any case, whatever that is in GBP, it's less than the £18 threshold for customs tax so nothing should be payable. Unfortunately, not being a member of HMRC staff, it's not my decisio

Well the good news is that mine arrived today, which is a little odd as Stardock as the shipping date on the dispatch note says 7 September but the email I got from SD last week said it had been dispatched on 16 September. I'm wondering if there's another copy in the post... Also good news in that there was no requirement for customs tax and the contents were in good condition. I say contents... the actual box was a complete w

Just got a confirmation that mine was dispatched today, despite being a preorder. Grrrr. About this custom's charge, are you serious?? Has eveyone who has received their copy been subjected to this charge, or is it just a select few. I'm getting seriously fed up with this whole process as being dispatched today, with the 1-3 week timeframe for international delivery, means that I could be finally getting my copy up to 7 w

I got a response from sales on Friday last week saying that they were " double checking on [my] order with [their] shipping company". I've since heard nothing from them and haven't received my copy either. Every time the postman comes to the door I get a little excited, only to be let down. One day... one day...
I am not sure what you're referring to as "rare" techs. Some techs in the tree won't become available 100% of the time. For example, in the Kingdom tech tree, the unlikely allies pathway is much more difficult to get than the others. Especially the dragon tech. I think I've went 5 upgrades and nada on that one.
There were supposedly a set of ultra-rare techs where the likelyhood of disc

I know a couple of people have asked this in different threads but I haven't seen an authoritative reply on the matter - are these rare techs still in the game or were they removed? I know that they were something that Brad had mentioned in a number of different interviews before release, but having played a few games I haven't come across any. Of course, this doesn't mean much as they are (were?) meant to be rare and only show up very occassionally. &nbsp

Well I think the title speaks for itself... I live in the UK and pre-ordered the game but haven't yet received it in the post. I've seen a couple of other posts on this issue and have sent an email to [email protected] asking them to confirm the dispatch date but have had nothing beyond their automated response assigning me a ticket (3 days ago). The fact that I also have an unrelated (Gal Civ 2) tick

In an attempt to bring this slightly back towards its original intent, PC Gamer has posted the following article on its website - still not a review, but launch-day impressions, and they're not positive. I think the title says it all. http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/08/25/elementals-disastrous-launch-stay-well-away/ To be honest, I think the points that Tom Francis makes are valid, but at the same time I'm personally enjoying playing - even with

Not sure if it's quite the same problem - I do experience a slight slowing but pretty quickly get a "Out of Memory" windows error message, which throws me out of the game. http://pastebin.ca/1924101

Apologies - I hadn't meant to be so sweepingly insulting in my comments (I re-drafted several times with the unintended result being tham my phrasing became more and more abrupt - damn phone wouldn't let me post my original wording!!!). What I was trying to get across is that the reviewer's assertion that the maths is wrong is flawed - yes, both cumulative and additive methods would be equally viable in the game (I think Eve Onlline uses both methods in different places

I agree with TheProgress - my trust in the reviewer is slightly undermined by the fact that his argument is based on maths and he seems to have a poor grasp of the subject. "But I see now that my error is mistakenly assuming that Elemental can do math. It has somehow decided that 50% + 25% = 88%." Yes, when applied cumulatively, a 25% bonus on top of a 50% bonus DOES equal 88% (or rather 87.5 to be precise). Still, there is the question as to why the b
