Haha : ) And yea, 'Eldmyre' sounds a bit better than 'Janusk'. 'Eldmyre' is Firemire, sort of, in Swedish, whilst 'Janusk' sounds like 'snusk' which means filth. Though true, shifty bastard he proved to be in this scenario, so maybe 'filth' is the more fitting name.

Hi, searched but couldn't find a reference to this issue. Haven't tried a custom game yet, wished to run through the campaign/ tut first. Anyways, disembarking only works on some beaches, and only partially sometimes. (Could disembark one troop / ship by the Gilden beach, can could disembark any number on my starting beach, cannot disembark at all on the Fallen beach (highlighted on the cloth map for the final battle(s), with neither ship. What gives? There is a land way, but

Well, I'm a sucker for good stories, and I was kind of enjoying the campaign's, but once I got to the swamp(Tarth) with two farms (of which one doesn't trigger an encounter) (supposed to be three farms?) I got around 9fps.(This is with core affinity set to one core.) In tactical battles in the swamp (the two I found) I got around 14fps. My HD4870 was doing pirouettes out of boredom in the background. When I moved around, the hd crunched for a split second, then my army teleported in two

Maybe we need to get 3-year-old Thinkpads? :p No seriously, I'm glad they've said they're looking into this, and that they communicate as much as they do. Since tactical battles work as intended (GPU doing something) then they should have some understanding of the issue. It's most likely not just 'check what the difference is and fix', but surely it should be something rather discrete, I can't believe that it's at the core of the engine or something like that. I guess this issue affec

I'd agree, the message I got upon starting Elemental 1.05 was : 'You Really should update, here's what we've done:', and though I browsed it but quickly I did not see any sort of warning. Might have missed it? If I did or if it wasn't there, then yes, big red letters. Not capitals though, and not multiple exclamation marks. (Not that you:Stardock are particularly prone to those, but people in general are.)

While setting the CPU affinity to one core gives a small boost to fps, it doesn't change gpu load, so I was wrong before. It depends entirely on what is being shown on the map, and the inverse relationship previously stated in the thread appears to be the case. Toggling hardware cursor on / off has no bearing on fps for me.

Hm, got to play some more and it seems more 'help-texts' have been added to the campaign/tut? Could be my imagination. More to the topic- the latest ATI tray tools running on my system while Elemental attempts to launch results in Elemental.exe appearing and disappearing within 5 secs, sometimes flashing a black screen. As soon as I quit ATI tray tools the game is launchable. This is with default settings for the tray tools. Was going to use its hardware monitor graphs as those are qu
It did seem to run slightly smoother w/ the game running on only 1 CPU core, but nothing major, and still nowhere near where it should be. The CPU activity seemed to remain the same running w/ affinity set to 1 core as it did w/ all 4 available, and that was 1/ the 1st core maxed out, and the other 3 not being used by the game. it.
Aha...weird that it should differ from my system. Still, coul
Hope this info helps. If there is any additional info needed, or if anyone would like me to do some more testing I'm more then happy to help.
Would you mind setting the affinity to one CPU core and see if that affects GPU load, as it did for me? I'd guess your FPS increase when you do that, 'cause they do for me.

Aha, thanks. And for those like me - used to explicit instructions and used to issuing them- the forums of joeuser.com share profile info with these ones, including avatars, and uploading avatars to your profile there works. Edit. Not that my avatar here seems to have materialized, but whichever, I shall simply wait for 6 months.

I get code -200 and message: 600. Same with different pics, png jpg, all well below size limit, res and kb-wise, different machines, different OSes, different browsers. This is apparently a stupid question because everyone else seems to have gotten it but joeuser.com is a blog domain, where you can create your own blog - how precisely does this assist in uploading an avatar for this forum? Even if you got the image hosted somewhere on the web the

Hm. GPU-Z and the task manager alive while Elemental is running tell me this: GPU load remains at 0%. CPU Core0 is at ~50% load, core1 at 0%, and core2 at 40%. These drop to 0% (because Elemental.exe drops to 0%) when I alt-tab out - (ATI card- Elemental dies instantly with the 'Invalid DX call' message). If I alt-tab at the main menu for example (doesn't cause the game to die) and set Elemental.exe's affinity to one core, once I enter the game world

No, and as noted I'm not using an Ev- ..an Intel CPU either. Still on XP sp2 and ancient video drivers too, but that doesn't seem to be the issue ;) Going to try 1.05 later today and run without many other background processes, and document GPU and CPU usage. I might even update some pieces of software.

Hm, well, running a Phenom ii X3 @2.8GHz, 4GB RAM, HD4870 512MB and WinXP32bit I get around 15 fps when 'normally' zoomed in on just my starting character, or the starting city, or any other 3d object. Alt+tab to check activity monitor - all three cores appear to have been excercised(at around 50% each). Check GPU-Z - GPU load@ 0%, just like the majority of the time I spent playing. Some peaks at 33%, otherwise just 0. What? GPU-Z correctly shows load from other apps. Alt+tabbing only

Informative and well put- except the caps. Please don't use caps to attempt to reinforce a point, it merely makes it seem like you are shouting. Italics work a lot better. And if I think so, it must be the objective truth of the physical universe. Anyway, I hope there's some sort of indicator for how much farther a unit can travel in one turn by the time I start playing.
Okay, that is a shame. I might just have to sit out on this one, then. The lack of a retail option or a solid digital download is a deal breaker, I am afraid. Too bad, it looked like a pretty awesome game.
"Solid digital download" = Steam? Without even trying anything else? Then again, I've never gotten monotheism either. Besides, it's not as if my apple tree bore TBSes this season.

It's a neat idea, and it would further make this game world more attractive than Meadow Lane = Industrial complex, barren ground with yellow stains, or Oak Grove Alley = concrete as far as the eye can see , and Spring Brook Walk = Swamp of the Dead. That is to say the real world.

It's a reality of physics and will always be, still I can't help but to dislike that 'bigger bodies' automatically deserve respect, or at least partial groveling. One of the mildly amusing things in life is being able to tell people whose egos have been dangerously inflated by belonging to some organisation and who are requesting something mildly absurd thanks to this to go hang (in a polite way). Still, hope this won't hurt you terribly. Edit: ed
