There have been arguments recently over the idea of a "diplomatic currency" being implemented in the game as a resource. The way it works now (beta 3C) it is simply used as a way of getting something for nothing from the AI players – so much so that it is "consumed" when traded to an AI player, so they don't gain their own capital out of the deal. A lot of the arguments seem to be based around the debate of whether Elemental should be balanced more towards multiplayer or single-

The "inflation" of similar techs in the military research tree seems to stem partially from needing to differentiate all the different kinds of weapons and armor that are available for unit customization, with different game stats. This results in having a very long series of equipment types with only slight functional differences, for example Dagger > Shortsword > Broadsword > Bastard Sword > Longsword > Greatsword > Claymore. I've already commented that qua
otakucore2, There already is a "good impression shirt" item in the beta that gives a charisma bonus. It demonstrates the problem I'm talking about - there's no reason not to take it and switch from armor to the charisma shirt each time you recruit a hero and then switch back. It isn't a choice, it's a chore - remembering to switch each time and making more clicks to do so. I'm not sure the equipment harmonies you propose addresses this - it could make it worse, becau
Thank you. I think my "Beta worries" are more acute because I joined late. With one month to release it's probably natural to worry that one part or another of the game will be overlooked. But of course I trust Frogboy et al. Champion skill trees were mentioned in the dev journals, which is a good sign for the direction they're going - choices between more different things rather than different amounts of the same thing. It's possible the developers feel the one-month-to-relea
(I posted this in the beta sub-forum, but now I think it belongs here. If it isn't ok to post in more than one place let me know.) Right now in the beta, you can outfit your sovereigns and champions with different items of weapons, armor etc, but there isn't much of a this-or-that choice in this system because you just want to give them the items with the highest bonuses. I don't know how much of this is new and how much is already plann
I might have given the wrong impression. It's not about having more realism or scope. Just because we change the way this one thing works, doesn't mean we also have to model environment and weather, the black market etc. It's a game, you can choose the level of abstraction for different things. What I'm saying is that we can represent this in the game system we already have. Making buildings that give resources is part of the game, just have an option
It seems horses are a resource that works similarly to metal or crystal - you harvest a tile with "wild horses" on it and if you lose the city with the tile, you can't make mounted units. But there's no reason that, once you tame some horses, you can't take them elsewhere to breed and raise horses in other cities. In real history, when cultures came into contact each would start to adopt the domesticated animals and plants the other used. In this way, species would spread far beyond wher
I posted this in beta feedback but maybe the ideas forum is a better place for it. Not sure if discussing character items should be in customization or gameplay - https://forums.elementalgame.com/384355

I don't know how much of this is new and how much is already planned for the game (since I can only see whats in beta), but I would like to see more items you can equip characters with that aren't necessarily combat related. So a character might
Hello, I was wondering, for how long and in what form will the discussions on these forums be kept around for people to read? Not to start my first post ever by sucking up to the audience - the Stardock/Elemental forums really are the most fun, troll-free and intelligent game community I've seen. The amount and imagination-level of ideas people are coming up with throughout the development and beta is amazing, where looking for good ideas in some other places is
