Would you rather see empires & kingdoms divided through a good/neutral/evil classification then ?
yes, I think that would be a lot more interesting than "good white kingdoms" versus "evil black empires" Keep Empire/Kingdom as a difference in philosophy, and then allow for differences within them. There's plenty of scope for an evil kingdom. Then you could have situations wher

i don't think it would be to much to ask of a player to protect their initial pioneer unit at the start of the game (or just keep monsters away until a city is founded, much as in Civ4). It would be fairly trivial... monsters start spawning if average number of cities per player > x As for option, 3, well, that's just a balance issue ( just !)/ Surely your other heroes can be allowed to quest and investigate special locations? Or your Sov does i
I think that Empires are not required to be true evil. Just another point of view, another methods and economic model. No baby-eaters please.
This +1. Maybe one or two of the Empires could be "evil," but only if one or two of the Kingdoms are also evil. There have plenty of evil kings and queens through history and fiction. And the Romans could of been viewed as both Empires and Ki

hello, given that we're now encouraged to give ideas for improving the game, here's my biggest complaint from the time I've spent playing Elemental (note: I've barely touched the game, as I'm waiting for v1.1 which should be more fun to play, so I haven't touched on most of the "broken" game elements discussed elsewhere. I simply started a game, played it for 30 mins, then decided to stop and wait for the patches): Why can my all powerful leader only found the i

the key point here is surely c omplex versus complicated . Surely we do not want a complicated game.... game mechanics that are fiddly but don't add much in the way of depth, interest, etc. We want a complex game. One with interesting, balanced decisions, clear design, accessible information, and depth in the gameplay. Remember, the "simpler" the game is, the easier it is for the AI (and human players!) to learn, so the more skilled you nee

Did none of this come up in the beta? And here's a related question: Can the AI win the game (if there are no human players). As in Civ, the AI will try and win. I've been beaten in the space race on Prince level (where the AI gets small bonuses). If you play passively, will the AI ever get into a position where it can win? Or is it like the Total War AI, which just seems to shunt units around more or less randomly.

Information. The Heirogaram (sp) is very very lacking in information. Stardock should go have a read of CivIV's civilopedia, and then have a look at what fans have modded in with the BAT/BUG mods (ie, in game articles on tactics and strategies). Same for FallfromHeave2, lots and lots of information. Actually, there's more information than you need(I enjoyed my first game of FfH2 without reading very much and fumbling my way through). Similarly, the game should r

If you have Civ4 with Expansionsm go download Fall from Heaven 2. I did, and regretted that it had taken me so long to play it. Its very deep, rich, and rewarding. However, it's got a little bit og a learning curve to it (a good thing though, I think). Make sure you download the short manual and have a read of the major game changes, and pick a race that's easy for newcomers. Then enjoy. True, it's still Civ4 deep down, but I found that the modders did a great job at cr

Ok, judging by some of the crazy defensive stances people are taking, I'll be left waiting a while before exploring Elemental. This is not me trolling, etc. I'm just acknowledging that I have limited free time in which to play games, and so want to use it as best I can. Helping Stardock find bugs and balance issues is not my idea of fun. The game is clearly unbalanced, and with immature AI, as otherwise it wouldn't of been patched 3 times in 3 days. This is not to say some won't find it fun,

I'm guessing that now that my earlier view has been widely adopted (face it, the game is getting slammed across the net, even indie friendly RPS are being negative, and if they're not the target audience, then I don't know who is). So, maybe we can have a more sensible discussion. When is the game likely to be ready. You know, fully featured, and stable. As I don't want to invest lots of time in a game that's changing every few days. I'd rather wait until the game is "g
oh an btw fail here this isn't meant to be a negative post. the post is negative albeit cleverly worded..
Well, I stand by my post, and it not being negative. It's meant to be pretty positive... I view Stardock as one of the companies who strive to make excellent games, (in a similar way to Fixaris, and not at all like Creative Assemblies). And, surely some of you agree that games are usually more fun when you first play

Hello, Please stay with me, this isn't meant to be a negative post... my question is: when do you think Elemental will be "finished" and worth playing? It seems clear that the release version 1.0 is not going to live up to expectations. Sure, it might be good , but it is clearly going to be a better, more rounded, balanced, interesting, deep game 6 months after release . I'm sure I read somewhat that the tact

Agree with the most the above. I was expecting something similar to the TW games. Even the very first tactical battle in Rome:TW has a far grander feel than anything I've seen in Elemental. How well is the system going to scale? Will we ever be able to have epic battles, or will these take place as as series of small, uninspiring skirmishes between 10s of men on each side? I'm surprised that GamesWorkshop's Warhammer hasn't had more of an in

The game felt a lot more King's Bounty than I was expecting. Whereas FfH2 does the whole dark, dangerous fantasy world thing a lot better. What's FfH2? Ooooh. Fall From Heaven 2. Got it.
yup, and I can't praise i

I agree. Having just loaded up the beta for the first time earlier today, the first thing that struck me was the feel... it really wasn't what I expected. Loads of inns, and then somebody asked me to kill some rats for them. I dunno, i was founding a new kingdom/empire after an acapolcaypse, and was one of the few remaining magic users in the world, I doubt I'd be doing cliched fantasy quests. Maybe the rat quest is meant to be an in-joke? The game felt a lot more King's Bounty than I
