Why not allow for very powerful characters, but make them very rare. So you won't get one every game, and if a powerful character does appear in your game, there's no guarantee that he won't end up choosing to work for your enemies; but if you do get a fabled hero working for you, then boy are your enemies in for a rough ride :) This has a couple of advantages: Balance isn't so important. As they're not in every game, it doesn't matter that they are overly power

I'm not big headed enough to assume that my thread had anything to do with it though! I just glad that my faith in Elemental has been restored. It'll be interesting to see the direction in which you take the game. While it's too early for any details, is it safe to assume that you'll be carrying at least some of Ff

I like the fact that they're not using all the usual tired Fantasy stuff. It's just a shame that none of if has been fleshed out very much in the game, in terms of game-play and in-game lore. But that will come with time.

I agree with a lot of this. And I would also add that the map/world is very lacking in personality. I think the zoomed out overview map is PERFECT. (is there an option which allows me to zoom in a little more while still using the map display?) But once you zoom in, the world is just boring. Wasn't there meant to be some sort of apocalypse? Surely we could have some giant chasms, towering mountain ranges, rolling hills. Old battlefield sites from
When the reviews came out, I thought, What are they complaining about? It isn't that bad. Meanwhile I haven't played the game even once. I don't count messing around with it a few times during beta. I just don't feel any compulsion to play the game.
I'm exactly the same.
that's a real shame, as that's the one type of multi-player I'd be interested in for a game like this.

Just a short paragraph or two giving a brief description of each race. While FfH2 has almost too much lore and background!

Indeed! Elemental's game mechanics could be the perfect bread for Kael's butter. His input on improving Elemental wouldn't be bad to have as well. :) I say, give him a nice little budget, and get him to make a "remix" of Eleme

Hello, apparently the stand alone Fall from Heaven game has been cancelled. :( But on the plus side, maybe this would be a perfect opportunity for Stardock to entice Kael over to modding for Elemental... his work his admired by a lot of people, and I'm sure he'd have a lot of invaluable insight into expanding and improving elemental. Stardock just need to give him a reason to switch from modding the hugely popular CiV (he's already produced a coup

Personally, I don't really care for the total war style battles. I mean, sure it can be fun but eventually the novelty wears off for me. When I'm playing a game at a strategic level I'd rather not have to fight out each individual battle in a total war style battle. Agree. I would prefer if the TW battles were turn based. As, with real time battles, I give my orders, then I have to wait a while doing nothing while my army walks up to the oth

+1 from me. It may be horribly nerdy, but if Warhammer/GamesWorkshop can implement a tabletop turnbased game where both sides field large armies, then surely a PC game can do the same? I really don't want a King'sBounty/HoMM style tactical combat game in Elemental. Which isn't to say I'm not enjoying King's Bounty (have been playing while I wait for Elemental to at least get past the savegame breaking patches...), but they don't really fit with th

Hello, apologies if this has been discussed before. I thought it might be an interesting topic to discuss, and it would be cool to see in a Future (like, in a year or two's time!) release/expansion of Elemental. Maybe it's just because I live in Scotland, and there's growing talk about Scottish Independence, which would end the United Kingdom as we know it! I really love the idea of civil wars and decline in games. But, in practise, they rarely work. I'm not sur

The ATT/DEF -> DMG system is way too simplistic. [...having unit unit counters is not enough in my book.] I don't want to mention more stuff like dmg/resistance types etc., because I prefer to play with fantasy themed games anyway. Funny,
There's no need to discuss the practical details, I'm just putting the idea out there to see what people think of it in general terms.Obviously, this would only apply to total conversion mods (think FallFromHeaven2), rather than mods that tweak a few things here and there, and add a couple of techs, but don't change the core game. I guess you're talking about total conversion mods that have no relation whatsoever to copyrighted m

Yes (with Stardock obviously taking a large and fair cut). I'm assuming there would be a charge, but ideally, an option of releasing a mode for free would be nice too in an ideal world. but I understand that that's unlikely. As if they don't do that, the potential audience is very limited (assuming that not many players actually try mods, and only a fraction of those who do will bother to try YOUR mod, and only a fraction of those will actually like it!).

Hello, I have a question that I think should get discussed: one of the clear strengths of Elemental is it's modding tools. However, as a potential modder (I've been playing around with Unity3D this last year and fancy getting involved in stuff), I'm put off using Elemental as its never going to have the market penetration that the Civ series will have. And given that only a fraction of players ever try mods, well, I'm left with a very limited potential audience. <p
