Yeah, I would like to give enough time for people to learn the tools, but it would also be a nice incentive to learn faster. Once I have a better idea of what I am doing and actually have a solid plan, I do plan on asking Stardock about something like that. Thankies!

I really love that category idea. I am just wondering how I would work the prize into that system. Maybe if the categories were limited. Or perhaps only prizes for certain categories. Hmm... *Ponders*
I don't want to do an entry cost, because then it would totally limit who would join. Hmm... judging vs. voting might work. The good thing about voting is that people will vote for what appeals to them and what they have fun playing with, compared to what just looks good. One of my main issues is that there will be tons of models, maps, whole mods, gameplay mods, etc. that I am wondering how well it will work just comparing them. Perhaps there are some good alternatives.
Once most of the modding tools are out there for people to start making stuff, I am hoping to start off a modding competition. I am still thinking of the details right now, but I am thinking of the following setup: Runs for 2 months: It will be open for submissions of mods through the 1st to the last of the month. In the following month people will vote on the mods in the first competition. After the voting period is up, a winner shall be announced, and they shall get a cash prize (an
Awesomeness! I haven't really played this game more than an hour since I never owned it, but I totally want to!
Awesome, thanks! I remember getting hooked on the demo that came out for the game, but I never got the game since I didn't really buy games back then (being a kid an' all ^_^) Time to get back into it and figure out how to pick the lock on that door for the... (Dark Brotherhood or something?) quest to join them that I entirely failed to accomplish. Ooo, and I can't wait to hear the "Halt! Halt! Halt! Halt! Halt! Halt! Halt! Halt! Halt! Halt! Halt! Halt! Halt!"
Ahah, found some good info here ( http://blogs.zdnet.com/Bott/?p=1128&page=2 ): LANGUAGE PACKS Here’s a confusing feature primarily of use for multilingual speakers. Within two weeks of launch, Windows 7 will support 35 languages. Your base installation will use the language you purchase initially (U.S. English for most readers of this article), but any user of any Windows edition inclu
I am looking into pre-ordering Windows 7, but I have been trying to find out more info about this "multi-lingual user interface pack" before I make a version decision, but have been failing. Currently I use the windows IME to write in different languages, and I switch my region if a program needs me to. Is this just a region-changer without needing a restart? I am not sure what improvements this offers over the natual multi-language support that gets offered to all other versions of Wind
My questions: - What sound system are you using? Something like FMOD? - Who are you getting to do unit/character voices?
Those mountains, forests, and waves look beautiful! *Follows the thread*
Sounds great! Will there be an NDA on the alpha?
The only thing that I use Twitter for is for following game devs (pretty much just the Natural Selection 2 team) so this is awesome! I get excited by the little snippets of development talk just like what was just posted =D PS. I love your logo! Super cute!
Awesome! I totally cannot wait for this one. Just going to look forward to some gameplay videos now, and then keep saving up some money since I can only now run Supreme Commander 1 decently =P
So it will be like Neverwinter Nights where the 'turns' just go by with time, and you can pause it? That seems fair. Perhaps people could just mod in a hotseat mode where you can use only instant-resolve and auto-resolve when fighting against players. Sure, it doesn't match up to LAN, but it would be a nice option for those with only one computer. At least I think =P Well, I'll just have to wait and see how it turns out ^_^ Thanks for the info, Hadberz!
If that is the case, couldn't it just swap the current player when it auto-detects the end of the turn to make hotseat work fine?
So essentially both people take a turn at the same time? I find it hard to see how a turn-based game could even possibly work if you take turns at the same time, with Unit 1 on Tile A moving to attack Unit 2 on Tile B, but Unit B trying to move to Tile C. Or does it detect an end of a turn? Or is it timed? Super confused here.
I don't know Corporate Machine, so how does its turn system differ from a normal 'this person goes, and then this person goes'?
Iron to food! Nom nom nom. I am all for Camp 3, at least in-so-far as I can tell. When it comes to the management side of a game, I do like control, but I am really not good at the complex sides of games. For example, in Empire: Total War, when I take about 8-10 countries, need to have armies here and there fighting this side and that, do all of the negotiations, and things like that, I pretty much just start a new game so that things are simple again. Camp #1 (sounds like it) would kill me,
Loved the info! Are you planning on releasing small tutorial videos for the tools along with the documentation?
Well, hotseat is local multiplayer as compared to online multiplayer. I would assume that they are only referring to the online multiplayer as there wouldn't be a reason for them to host non-online games. What I am wondering is if the save files for the (online) multiplayer games will still be stored on your own machines, or if they will also be stored on SD's servers.
Awesomeness! Loved it!
I am pretty sure that you don't. All that you get are the projectile effects on the location that they hit. I really did want the game to show damage like that as well, but all that you see (if I remember correctly) will be some trailing smoke when the ship is physically damaged.
I was messing around with a 4-legged animation, and I couldn't think of how I could get it to look natural, so I started crawling around on my hands and knees to see how I moved, and then I made my model do it. I feel that it turned out decently ^_^ http://chirmaya.no-ip.org/files/tv_walk02.avi (You'll need it to watch it on loop.) It would be nice -- a
Small typo: Every battle mage and every Dread Lords Loved the story! I really enjoy seeing when great people fall from power and hopefully you play as them when trying to re-establish their empires or something. Or, if it is entirely just history, perhaps a decendant trying to take up the claim of their forefathers. Yay, I can't wait for more!
Pre-ordered the game without reading anything about the game, but from what I have read by now, I am totally awaiting the first beta release! I also can't wait to find out more about the modding system ^_^
