Look, I am not gushing. All I've been saying is that--for me--it is fun, addictive, playable. Looking at the vitriol being spewed on these forums, you would think the game fried everyone's PC on executing. Like all of Stardock's offerings, they are not for everyone. Not many people are big fans of 4X games.
While you're saying this, realise that the people who post on these forums are an interest

There's some serious reality distortion field action going on. I pre-ordered Demigod, bought GalCiv II and pre-ordered Elemental, Collector's ed (paid rather a ton of OS shipping, too). I'm pretty disappointed with what Stardock pulled here. The initial reaction coming out of the company wasn't exactly stellar, either. Brad messed up on the PR, that much is pretty simple. I'd imagine they simply didn't have the funds to keep the game in development for another 5 months to last 'till f
Yeah, I noticed that as well - 8 pts for a ~50 gold staff? I think I'd rather have a bucket more essence, or take a small flaw and get another trait or something. Bit disproportionate. (edit: So that this isn't just a trite observation, suggestion: Make starting items relics that are leftover from before the Cataclysm. Make them somewhat / moderately / immensely powerful and impossible to actually make in-game. Some neat stuff can be done by passing this item on to your
Very recent ATi driver latest Elemental patch (1.05), out of memory CTD less than 20 mins ago. Debug.err here: http://pastebin.ca/1924887
I'm impressed with the turnaround time for some of these things - seems it addresses the top issues talked about on the beta forums nicely. Looking forward to the update!
So, can buildings actually consume resources (i.e. provide negative production)? I'd love to see a "black market" type building - or call it whatever you will - to provide access to a rare resource you can't otherwise get, but at a substantial gold cost. For example: 4 tiles, produces 1 ore per turn, -10 gold per turn. For when your military desperately needs metal, you don't have a natural source of it, and other players aren't q
I really like the proposed idea of being able to focus on a sub category. It makes sense from a lore perspective and is also very useful from a gameplay perspective (short on food? focus your research on it. Might not turn up exactly what you want but it'll be useful to fix your crisis all the same). That said, it might be worth having a wildcard option that'd function somewhat similarly to what is in place right now. You tell your researchers to focus on civ based im
Beta went smooth for me - appeared in my Impulse client overnight and downloaded / installed without any issue, nice work! I've played around half a dozen games or so (and a few 1 or 2 turn failures), to give an indicator of the amount of time I've spent with Elemental so far. HUD (I posted this first in another thread but that seemed to have ve
I'm probably late to this, but I originally posted this in the wrong thread so I figured I might as well move it: As for the HUD, having played around half a dozen games or so (and a few 1 or 2 turn failures), I'd at least like to see the following elements on a city HUD (I would imagine they could be turned of if a player doesn't want them cluttering up the screen): - City level - Room left to grow in tiles - Amount of prestige
Thanks for the update, it's good to get a chance to test this game! edit: Whoops, this isn't the post where the HUD is mentioned. Moving the feedback on that to the appropriate post now...
Yep, I had the same issue on 1680 x 1050. Further, there were a few blank text boxes in both The Dark Concoction and the Wolves quest (which was awesome, by the way).
The game looks lovely on mostly default settings (I put all detail sliders up as far as they could go). While not a showstopper by any means, I'd agree with people asking for the male units to receive another pass, the faces are definately not up to the same standard most of the graphics are, in my opinion.
I think what you are asking about is an NDA , not an EULA . The beta -does- have an EULA which, on a glance, looks like pretty normal legal boilerplate. There is no NDA however. This question has been answered by Stardock employees a few times on these forums as far as I have seen - you can post your thoughts, screenshots and videos wherever and howev
I failed as a tester and forgot to create a save of this situation :( It happened to me too. The only thing that was out of the ordinary I think was that one NPC kingdom killed another on that turn. I am not 100% sure this caused it though. It was in the 300s turns somewhere.
Yeah, I ran into this as well on my first few games. Would make sense if the default left click action for non-aggresive units would be something other than attack.
Some of these are awesome. I decided on some crystal - I don't know what the etiquette around this is - there's near 400 posts on this thread so checking if someone already claimed it is a bit laborious. Let me know if there's something I ought to do apart from saying thanks! And here it is then: Thanks!
I think there's probably enough data by now, but for completeness' sake: Same, Win7 64 bit, 8gb mem, ATI 4850, AMD Phenom 2 quad core
I've just played my first few games (and lost them for reasons I could spot - the best kind of losses!) and I think the research complexity is fine, but it needs to be more discoverable through the UI. The current implementation took me a little bit to grasp (and I am some some complexities elude me still) but once it clicked I have to say it was a beautiful moment. I love in-depth and big tech trees! The biggest problem currently, as is touched on in a few posts above, is the lack of
Just to clarify - does this mean I can expect my pre-order (I preordered around 2 when the collector's edition got announced) to be charged soon and a beta email sent? Or will there be no additional invites for the stage 2 beta?
