Not sure if this will help or not, but I do use Commdo Internet Security Suite (the free, bare bones version). However I have recieved no defense alerts, in the background, I've checked my logs and still nothing :( Edit: Nevermind, relaunced it and it seems to work now :P Weird. Nothing changed on my end.

I myself have had the same problem and am connected to the internet, have exceptions in my firewall, ports open etc. Nothing works. Overall I just can't run the game.
