Really enjoying beta 3 so far. I'd guess that I'm about 4-5 hours into a game, which is the most I've spent in one game since the WoM beta. So that's saying something. The writing surprised me... I used to never read the flavor text but something caught my eye (think it was a monster lair or something similar) and I thought "huh, that's pretty interesting". So now I'm actually reading the flavor text more often. :) I need to play more before I comment o

Dominions 3 - reasons already mentioned in this thread. i also really like the lore and mythology. Legend of Zelda (NES) - the music, the open world, the secrets. it blew my mind as a kid. Planescape: Torment - the story, the characters (shoutouts to O), the updating of the journal. Half Life 1 & 2 - both were amazing roller coaster rides. Diablo 1 & 2 - the music and sound effects from both of these games are etched into my brain. the game play was fa
So I've been playing the accidentally leaked beta (which you can't get anymore)... I've barely scratched the surface of the game but I'm already glad I pre-ordered. Someone on another forum called it a strategic roguelike. I think that fits. So yeah, gameplay wise it's much different than Dom3.
CoE3 may be what you're looking for if Dom3 was too much. It's more of a single player game with better AI, less micromanagement and much quicker turns. Graphically it looks similar to Dom3 but it's quite different. Also, it seems that pre-ordering to get into a beta access was an error.. you can still pre-order for 15% off but you DON'T get the beta. Time to update the OP..
ctrl + s = quicksave i did the same thing though, tried the F# buttons and thought it wasn't in there
I know there's some Dominions 3 fans here, so I figured I'd let everyone know that Illwinter has started taking pre-orders for Conquest of Elysium 3. Buy it at: http://www.desura.com/games/conquest-of-elysium-3 Learn about it at: http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=47712 It's a good time for us fantasy TBS fans.
I still wish we could use WASD to scroll the map. WASD 4 LIFE
Surprisingly, I didn't get any diseases. A couple crashes here and there but that's it. I actually feel kinda... good... after playing through the tutorial and a little bit of a game. You lied to me Frogdude. Seriously though, good first impression.
Planescape: Torment
I love Stardock but they would definitely not be my first choice for a PS:T remake.
3. Sometimes on exciting the game I get the message "Elemental War of Magic has stopped working".
there's a pill for that
Same here Saije. I hope we aren't surprised though, I love being a sneaky bastard in other games.
Bump for WASD justice!
It seems that in most strategy games you have to control the map (panning up, left etc) with your mouse and/or arrow keys, and I'm not a fan of either one. The problem with using arrow keys is that it moves your hand away from all the other keybinds, and if you're like me and use keybinds a lot you end up needing to move your hand around often. The problem with using the mouse is, again, needing to move your hand a lot. It sounds like I'm lazy (and there's some truth to that) but you
We love you daedalao.
Is there a way to confirm that I preordered? I don't think I got an email when I did. Just want to make sure I don't miss out on the beta.
I'm in. Stardock + MoMish game? Yes please. I don't think I've ever been more excited for a game.
