UAC is DISABLED for me. And yes my graphic settings aren't being saved as well. Following are my specs: Quad 6600 2 GB RAM 2 x ATI 4850 (running in crossfire mode) I am not sure if this is the culprit...the crossfire Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit) hannisen maybe u're running a multigpu setup like me?

DMZ is not recommended unless you have a specific reason you want to expose your computer to the internet. Not sure why Linksys would recommend that since by default all their routers come with dmz not turned on to begin with which is the sensible thing to do albeit a bit harder for newcomers.
Don't you have some notification system to inform you guys when it is down? Afaik quite a few datacentres have this feature. Kinda hard to play a multiplayer game without multiplayer :P

I am experiencing the same problem in Malaysia. The problem being when I click login, it just seems to not move, buttons go grayed out but the graphics in the background is still moving so it's not a program jam. Lol i lost that game mainly because my capital ship tried to chase his critical capital ship and ended up losing mine instead :( Then yeah downhill battle from there since it was really early on.

I didn't know the mitigation remains in effect regardless of shield status...since it does say Shield Mitigation.... Who has phase missiles? Vassari?
Does this put TEC ships at a significant disadvantage due to them relying more on hull than on shields? I guess Vassari with their talent to be able to bypass shields makes it painful for Advent... Slightly out of topic but in early game, when all you have is a capital ship and some cobalts and LRMs is it perhaps just more efficient to go all the way cobalts? Problem is when the enemy closes in on them, they get rather crappy since there's no other unit to occupy them.
I read it in some places that focus firing is not that good in this game because of shield mitigation which increase when they are focus fired upon. I know it's not as good but does that mean you should leave it to the AI? Somehow I don't think so...what is the most effective way of 'microing' battles? I was fighting an early vassari fleet with LRMS and a kol and kept on losing (around even numbers) even when I had repair platforms up so I was wondering what kind of coordination do

Actually the patch is available freely from filehosting sites without any problems. The only thing they can't do is use the Stardock's network I believe. They can play over Hamachi as well serial key or not. However that being said, this is an awesome game and that alone convinced me to get the original after playing the downloaded Sins for about a week although I still play over Hamachi.
