Later in the game there is a spell that revitalizes the land. I'm new to the game so I don't know if it really changes non-habitable terrain into spots where you can place a city - but it sounds so from the description. Perhaps the AI uses that. IMHO it's a more likely explanation you got unlucky (or using pre-made maps) and the AI got city terrain close together and your spots got more spread out. How much xp will they get: a) 8 xp each (totalling 16 xp)? b ) each gets a reduced share of the total, like 7 xp each (total 14 xp for the fight)? c) they split the xp equally, giving 4 xp each. (total 8 xp)? d) they split a reduced total, giving something like 3 xp? (total 6

This means that 2 heroes on a 10 xp-quest would earn them 10 Xp each (totalling 20 Xp). Xp from monster-fights are reduced if you bring more heroes. But is the Xp-total reduced
