Personally I think Stardock should rebuild SKS/WB 10 to update it, and remove all the redundant elements. I also think they should address all the bugs before trying to build for a new OS. I absolutely despise when companies abandon products for the shiny new one before fixing what's broken. In a way it's a slap in the face to all the loyal customers who've been spending hundreds, if not thousands of dollars over years paying for updates. Just think about all the money you've s

Ok, so I've been doing a fair bit of pissing, and moaning about issues with SKS, and asking for help on numerous occasions. So today I'd like to talk about something positive. Let's talk about glyphs in SKS, and why I appreciate them so much. Ever had an issue with an image you just can't solve because there's no stretchable/tilable spots for the margins to deal with? Ever had an image you just made, and love, but it gets mangled because it's round? Enter the use of glyp
Ok, thank you! It's not a biggie, just one of those things. I tend to use per pixel pretty much exclusively since a lot of the features in UIS2 are a pain to deal with, (looking at you, additional buttons, and shadows!) Lol. There was a time when using the additional buttons to "hide" the inactive buttons so your frame appeared to grow, or shrink depending on which buttons were visible at the time was a big thing for me. Especially if a glass caption was involved. It was
Does anyone else have an issue with UIS2 windows not rolling up all the way to the top window frame bottom? I adjusted the margins as much as I could, as well as changed the caption height to match the size of the top frame, (32), tinkered with the rollup size function in Extra Settings, and even gave the image some top padding to match the
Yup, Tom is awesome. He's helped me out a lot as well. 2of3 helped with some text colors too. The community is really cool, and supportive here, which to me, is important. It helps with morale, and motivation. Yanno, I have an idea that's so crazy it just might work! With most elements, (I'll have to research this further), you can "delete this section from the skin". What if someone were to delete all the useless sections, and elements of the Diamond skin, and upload it so people can downloa
I'm right there with all of you in terms of length of use. I remember "trying" to skin with SKS back towards the end of Win98SE. Does anyone else remember that weird fishbowl skin with the animations? Ahhh the painful memories! LOL.
Ok, before I begin my rant I just want to put it out there that I DO enjoy, and love both SKS, and Windowblinds, and have for a very long time...however... I've been working on a couple of skins, and wow, the amount of bugs I'm running into is astounding. Some things can be chalked up to good 'ol Winnders not wanting to play nice with others, but SKS has been really pissing me off lately. I cannot get my rollup button's glow image to work in per pixel border for l
Damn. Well, crap. I guess I'll have to change it then. Thank you for the response, sir!
Ok, so as in the title, for some reason the vertical taskbar tray arrow is using the horizontal image file in Windows 10 itself. Since it doesn't show up in the skinning preview for Skinstudio 10 I can't see it unless I apply the skin. It shows up fine as the imported image, but when I apply it, it's pointing to the wrong file. Is there some sort of coding voodoo I have to perform to get Windowblinds to use the correct image? I've noticed quite a lot of "missing" button states
Thank you, Don5318! The peer pressure is REAL, and I'm ok with it!! [e digicons]:D[/e] [e digicons]
Thank you, 2of3! I still have quite a bit to do yet, but I'm thinking I'll upload it just for the fact that I've yet to see a Doom Eternal, (or any Doom skin for that matter), and the game well deserves the love. I might even be able to catch Hugo Martin's attention because he LOVES stuff like this from the community. If it's Doom related, and it's out there, he'll find it, lol.
Thank you, LightStar! Geez, I think we've been skinning about as long as each other. My first skins were Winamp 2.8 skins. Once they switched to the xml style with version 3, and above I had to tap out, lol. The very first time I tried to use SKS was with Win 98 SE, and I almost had to go to the trauma unit for extreme blood loss from the nosebleed of seeing the SKS UI, and all it's features. I still remember that fishbowl skin, and the wood one. Of course, I didn't dig in deep until
Thank you for the quick reply, Basj! Yes, I have a 3 monitor setup, and that's what I was referring to. I'm wondering if it's due to how Windows treats those additional taskbars. The way it seems is A: either Windows treats them as taskbar buttons themselves, or B: Windowblinds/Windows doesn't know how to deal with it and simply merges functionality. What I mean is Windows 10 still doesn't have full multiple monitor support so WB sees it, and treats it like just another button
Ok, while working on the clock text I've noticed issues on two skins I'm working on. The clock text seems to be connected to the taskbar button activated text color, and font. Is this a bug, or am I missing something? Is there a way to disassociate them from each other? Concerning image tiling. I'm using screen lines in some of my elements, and for the life of me I can't get rid of one double line on some of the images. I set all the margins to both tile, then to stretch to test, and
Oh EM GEE Thank you! You, sir, are a legend! I've been using SKS since 4, or 5 (XP days), and nothing's been this hard to find, LOL. I had a sneaking suspicion it'd be you to answer this, and I'm very glad ya did. [e digicons]5*[/e] [e digicons][/e] [e digicons]:D[/e]
Hello, everyone. Hopefully all are doing well. My question is simple. Does anyone know how to change the status bar color in Windows 10? I'm running the latest Skinstudio 10, and Windowblinds 10, and for the life of me I cannot find the color setting, nor the image for it (if there is one). Any help is appreciated. I know it can be at least colored because I've seen skins with it altered. I just can't find it, lol. <img src="https://cdn.stardock.us/forums/30/91/3091147/6fb7d2c0-0b4c-4
Ok I see, thank you jazzymir. Yeah I ended up throwing in the towel on the pushbuttons and went square with 1 px rounded edge..lol. Windoze just suckin' the creativity abilities right outa a poor guy...lmao. Hey it could be a lot worse!
ya know what the really weird thing is that never used to happen with sks 5.11. Back when the 6's first came out I would do most if not all of the designing in sks6 then open up 5.11 and it would seemingly "auto-correct" a lot of sks 6's shortcomings. ESPECIALLY with the way 6 and 7 handle the menu text colors. SKS5 had this really awesome feature that would use skin defined text independently. For some reason neither SKS6 nor 7 have this. I might dig up my old copy of 5.11 and see what I can
I guess that's enough to push anyone's button. lol yup I'm getting frustrated to say the least.

That occurs when your button face/dialog background color is not the same as you menu color in the colors section in sks. ok so does vista and blinds not get along or is it me? I've noticed that the pushbuttons won't display correctly no matter what I do. I've redone the images, I've resized the canvas to add and remove canvas, I've even changed the button face color to match and nothing is working. I've even uninstalled/reinstalled both WB6 and SKS6 thinking it might have been some quirk from updating vista. Normally I wouldn't mind because I had the same issues with the headerbars and simply changed th
The best way to do that would be to copy the piece of underlapping frame and use it with the button itself. Just make sure to save as a .bmp if your button canvas is competely filled with the background. Once that's done and the button is positioned, you should have no probs with alpha because there won't be any. Also keep in mind that even though UIS2 frames are more flexible, they can also be more difficult to work with. Some of the titlebar buttons get a bit twitchy when working wi
never seen one this low, why is that???
I have no idea...lol. I'm running an Alienware Aurora 7500 with a 256mb ddr Nvidia 8600 GTS PCIe card and 2gb ddr2 memory. By windowblinds' review I shouldn't even be able to run per pixel yet I know my rig more than handles it. Weird eh?
See I figured they were Windows copy written images or something. I didn't even think about them being excluded for that reason...lol. I don't plan on submitting any of my skins. I do it just to tweak my own machine a bit. I'm realizing now that some elements either don't make the crossover or can't make the crossover from XP to Vista. I STILL can't get the rollup and help buttons to appear on the bottom border like they're supposed to. I've checked all the settings, tested several ti
Nope, I even bumped it by 1 px and back to see if it might pick it up. See the issue is it's not visible. They both function when I click the area, but neither button is visible. Here's the settings I'm using. the image is a 6 frame .tga Button has per pixel alpha Action: one is rollup window, the other is help. Button should be positioned relative to the: Bottom right of the window The button should be: 35 pixels from the left / right edge (rol
