I dont enjoy killing AI armies and getting nothing for it either...especially when that stops me from killing monsters so I can actually flipping level up. If the AI exp HAS to be so low to balance the game...maybe the AI should stop sending so many fodder units my way and send more substantial ones. The constant stream of fodder units only serves to make me put my main army in "swat the annoying stream of obviously fail armies coming my way for n

Hehe. Yeah well its been that way for the last 2 games, I still hold out some hope that some year they focus more on things like this...
Quoting Mytheos, reply 29I dont consider them taking over my towers as invading my boarders...I consider invading my boarders as being close enough to sack a city within 1-2 turns...or being within the territory given by the cities. I think I have discovered your issue. The AI apparently hates boarders. So, if you don't want them to invade your borders, stop taking in boarders!
Just like everyone is saying, learn to avoid things you cant handle until later, nothing is "forcing" you to kill them. I havent played 1.2 yet, but deadly creatures wandering my lands while I am wearing leather is just the way it is (was?) If they dont move from their lairs now, then just wait before you attack them, shouldnt be an issue? I havent honest ever had any problems with the Shamen, maybe its just me? I dont
I'd prefer less UI in this regard, but this is my preference when playing these games. I want to be allowed to make dumb mistakes. I want to finish my turn while not building anything. I want my units not to use all of there movements. I want my units not to get these bonuses from guarding and such. These are tactical decisions that I want to make and I want full control over my game in this regard. I do know that people do not

I use the towers for road, defense, slightly for exploration, but mainly to extend sight range around my city boarder so it buys me a few turns to respond to an incoming army. When I see the ones in no man's land go dark I know something is coming. But the Ai should really just say hey thanks man and take them over. Not respond by saying OMFG! this guy needs to die and I will burn out my resources to try to do it...all the while so
Quoting Mytheos, reply 24Only thing I can think of is that I use Arcane Monolith and maybe go crazy with it some. Aha! That makes a lot of sense. I didn't even understand how you were meeting all the AIs by turn 20, let alone having them all declare war on you. It probably also explains why you find it so hard to defend your empire with a single stack, if it's so spread out. It does therefore seem to be t

Stalker0 -"I'm not saying some more defenses wouldn't be useful, but i have learned the defensive power of outposts. An outpost with fortify and an armory can magnify a small group of defensive troops to equal a much larger force, especially if you can blast the encroaching army with damage and debuffs." Yeah

I think what is being said is true the UI needs to be better and more informative, the player should have a better understanding of what is going on. This is all polish stuff mostly, and the devs seem to have polish in general on the back burner, they really need a polish team working in unison with AI fixes and game balance issues. Even simple stuff like health level displays (Which are in now) that show at a glance the health values of your troops on their ico

Only thing I can think of is that I use Arcane Monolith and maybe go crazy with it some. Would put my territory closer to more AIs ( +Angry) and they might over estimate me in some way because of it as well. I do pay AI to declare war, almost always, goal is to have everyone fighting everyone so maybe they leave me alone.

But it started with... Yithril, hmm let me think abou--WAR! Kulan, Hmm...WAR Carridus - Love you Altar - Love you Gilden - Ok with you Magnar - Dont really like you. Then after about 10 turns... Carridus - Sorry they paid me to attack you Altar - Sorry they paid me to attack you Gilden - You are now at war with my ally, sorry Magnar - You are now at war with my

I mean I'm not going to fib and say I choose the easy AIs, I just take what they give me. Last game was Carridus, Kulan, Yithril, Magnar, Gilden and Altar. So granted that would be a bit more difficult.

What you do and what I do doesnt sound all that different, I have played several hero types and havent yet made a summoner type yet tho. Well I get leather earlier. Closest neighbors like you? Only time that happens is if I am human and the closest is Altar and if they are human they are "ok" with me, but that lasts only so long...as they quickly get paid off by the ones who hate me to declare war on me. Every time for

I cant go after enemies AIs because again if I do I loose half my kingdom in the time it takes to raze the closest enemy city right next to me. And I have seen the AI # recommendations based on the size of the map. Playing 6 AI on a large map is well within those boundaries. I have play 5 full games on Expert so far, (Fewest opponents 4, most 6) and only gave up on one, the longest I went without having the majority of Kingdom

@coyote303 Still not sure why you would be opposed to simply having walls being able to be built, and crossing them would just initiate combat with the attached fortress. How does that really change anything for you in a negative way? And if you have been experiencing the evolution of the AI from Elemental to now you can clearly see the leaps and bounds they have made. And there is a fairly clear direction the AI development will g

I am well aware of everything you mentioned. I do everything you mentioned. My focus is and always has been on speed and efficiency, but that only goes so far when the AI has a Merchantcross Bazaar before you finish researching civics. (Insane) On expert I can keep in the middle of the pack for the beginning and make up ground towards the middle as I go for the long term route and focus more on economy. <

I guess I am playing a different game than everyone else. I have spent around 200 hours playing FE:LH and each time the general result is the same. ( I play on Expert and normally win, barring some sort of stupid event putting 10-12 deadly monster armies surrounding my Kingdom when the global highest kingdom is around 100 power) I normally have someone at war with me by the time I get leather armor, which is very early in the game, with everyone e

Noticed a bug, a screen shot would have wrapped it up, but...yeah sorry. Anyways I assume everyone noticed this already but... If you line up your troops all right next to each other and there isnt space to walk around them. The AI does nothing and constantly passes on their turn. And epic army can be defeated by a single archer doing 1 damage a shot if they have a line of whatever in front of them. &nbsp

If my Sovereign is a Mage, I have him join up with me at first and maybe get him a level, possibly two. Then use him to manage unrest. With everything else, I am always looking for a good a mage to run an army, and I might level him up more. But if he isnt suited for being a Mage, unrest management. Most end up being weaker than a unit you can build, and trying to level them late game can end up troublesome. Early game th

@ coyote303 You can still beat down the walls with your normal melee troops. It would be just like everything else in the game, its there, if you use it you can reap benefit. As we all know once you defeat an enemy's main army the rest tends to be a bit easy to finish off. Also not being able to defend your lands better is annoying, they tend to bypass your fortresses and go around destroying your resources or attacking less defended towns...often with single heroes on horseback. There is no way to really secure your borders short of tossing out a bunch or curgen's volcanoes, which is kinda cheesy. So how about you add wall ti

I agree, however I think the only true failure at this point if the fact the AI is incapable of keep up with a good player. And has to be given insane bonuses in order to provide challenge. Yeah you have 7 cities, well managed but this is a higher difficulty so the AI can out perform you at every level having 3 cities with only 1 having production over 10. Which again I agree is really annoying. However I assume/hope t

I dont think the idea should be to limit the starting positions which will reduce the strategic possibilities...but if this allows you to abuse the AI, then make the AI better. But like I said in my previous post this is all just obvious and basic tactics that work and happen in the real world. And using proper tactics should give the player an advantage...assuming you are looking at this game as a strategy game and not an "I'm awesome K
