Absolutely. I'd like to see more empire involved in a game that seems to be about creating an empire. I like the idea of a throne room, maybe you could appoint a subordinate to serve as your second while out questing. Would kind of boost the rp part of the game, I always enjoyed those kind of things in Galactic civ.

Hmmm, that makes alittle more sense, but then why are channelers suddenly appearing? They weren't there before? For game balance, I think one technology should be something to allow units or at least heroes to channel the sovereigns magic through them, similar to AOW. Would be good, and would fit the sudden explosion of civilization.
So this may be an odd question, but I don't really understand why suddenly people are building empires and kingdoms. Wasn't the war of the Titans centuries ago? How is it that suddenly all these kingdoms are popping up? In Galactic civ they had a plausible spark with the new hyperdrive. Here, I don't really understand the spark that starts the action in the game...
about sovereign vs people, what I'm going for there is the idea of government more than anything. If the sovereign sees a pretty girl on the street does he selt limit his power or does he have the guards carry her off to the palace. If he decides to go to war, do the people have some say or is it "I have magic, you don't lets get it on!" Those are the kind of things that really define a leaders nature, so even though the people might follow him they may not be keen on being
eh, I think they've already talked about this and the CEO made a comment along these lines for their future plans. He said they would give the first expansion free to those who owned the game before a certain point, as part of the apology. So either you're reposting known info, or you get a cookie for making a good guess at their best tactic. : )
One thing I did like about civ4 was the way you could customize government options for economy, ideology, etc. SOmething similar except with more of a fnatasy bent and most importantly, and idea for what each finsihed combination would be. For example you could have options on Sovereigns power vs peoples power - is the word of the sovereign life and death, or do the people have rights in court? Resource distribution -all to the kingd
of yes, studying how government does and does not work is absolutely useless. Since its such a small part of our lives and insignificant in the course of human history, I can completly understand how you might feel its a pointless degree. The other three I have might also be considered the same by any person who has the vision of an ostrich with their head comfortably relaxing underground. The only time a degree is worthless is when the person behind it didn't learn
hmm. Dunno, I see it will have a great future, but for now it is very bland. The map, the heroes, the characters, the magic, the cities, they all feel very half finished to me. I think after the first expansion where they address some of that, then I can give it a much high review. For now I am playing, but mostly because I have no other games lately. : ) Please don't misunderstand, I see this like AoW in the beginning. But I
While I love the game despite some issues, I do find the 9.0 too much. I appreciate the insight into how you review, but I'm sure you know that will open to a lot of criticism. From myself included. While I enjoy EWoM, the numerous difficulties and currently untapped nature of much of the game does definitely drop it quite a bit. Even if I ignore the stability bugs and just look at the content of the game, its very unfinished in some ways. I look at numbers as a
Interesting. I didn't see this before, but I have to say considering the stress you guys must be under and the recent news about layoffs, its unsurprising if there was a momentary lapse, even a grievous one.
Interesting, I'd agree about giving up if it were any other company. Haven't bought a command and conquer since that garbage CnC 3, though it used to my favorite series. The big companies release and forget, I prefer to keep my many with the more dedicated companies.
I like it, gives me a reason not to murder them on site.
hmmm, was playing my pre-patch game and had an odd issue. Large units make it nearly impossible to choose adjacent units. When I had the dragon in my party, I couldn't click on any adjacent characters unless I used their portraits. Characters really need to be tied to the tile they are on much better, this has been a constant issue for me in battles... Especially the way they move around the tile, sometimes its just hopeless. ergh.
hmm, it seems to be crashing more now. Some communication error and then dead. Otherwise runs a lot better though, lol
I suggested using noble titles and governorships to help make them more interesting, but it would also mean providing some bonuses as army leaders and commanders. Attacking to a single squad seems a little limiting. I'd rather they affected the whole army they are marching with.
Ok, Been playing a bit now. Aside from some annoying bugs (Like my 9unit Ogre squads becoming 1 ogre each after reload, that was a fun surprise.) there are some areas that could push the game a little further. The champions to me are especially annoying. First, some ideas for them. Heroes- Nobility, loyalty, and governorship. The main campaign is about the treachery of Kraxis, so I thought loyalty should be considered with hero unit
I can understand the point, however I think its a difference between sim gamer and power gamer. Some people want to dominate the game, so they form A to B strategies and pursue that each time. Others like myself don't do that, and appreciate the less silly idea of researching 'weapons' instead of specific research targets. So I understand why you might not like it, but I do for this one.
That means we can release free "expansion packs" for Elemental until such a high percentage of players love the game that only then can we discuss sequels or paid expansions. This is good. I liked sins of a solar empire, but felt a little cheated when basic things like diplomacy were turned into a paid expansion pack. Never bought any of the expansions since I felt they should have been included in any game billed as a 4x strategy.&
I'm doing better now since I'm trying Empire forces, they're just so imbalanced with too much military power compared to the kingdom armies. Really unfortunate. But a little easier to have a go at for now.
I thought it was kind of a cool change from the very specific stuff like 'I'm going to research aerial ninja combat tactics' you see in other games Research is always so ridiculously specific, in this case you're just researching a field and when you have a breakthrough, you can choose what your people discover. I've never had one turn up empty though, that owuld make me pretty angry.
I have to agree with the original poster. These are power gaming strats that don't fit very easy level. I wanted a simple easy level to practice builds and technologies and such, instead I suddenly get war declared by everyone and massive armies of ogre stacks appearing on my borders. So yeah, the difficulty isn't reasonable. Very easy should mean the enemy barely trains troops, and the game is at your pace. Though at heart it seems the main problem is just that
