Thanks again - installing the new version and deleting the old. Thx! [e digicons]k1[/e]

Noobish question, but I need to ask - how exactly do I know that I have this installed correctly? Anyway to confirm that these changes are loaded? I followed the instructions in the op re: how to find the correct location. I actually had to create a Mods folder though. I enabled mods in the in game options. There's just nothing that I see telling me that my mods are

Furthermore, using my files would just create even more extra work, as these files are intended to modify, while their files are intended to be core files (for example, my buildings are nothing like what their buildings are).
Righto - I'm just referring to your actual coding fixes... I'd think that if an issue is identified and you provide the code to fix it, it
Stardock will never use my files
Curious - why would you say that?
I'm really happy to see a community bug fix mod out already - thank you. My only other comment is that I'd hope this mod would simply be bugfixes and not other changes so that it might see easier incorporation into the game by SD. Perhaps 1 mod that handles bugfixes, another that represents your interpretations on what you want adjusted? Anyway, thanks for your hard work!
I'm fighting a whole new war now, it's the war of disappointment.
Its similar to the war on terrorism. But more/less effective... hard to say. Anyway, any performance patch is very welcome. I completely understand that MANY other tweaks are needed (The dev journals seem to indicate that ai tweaks won't happy this patch as brad is OOT - they did say they are cleaning code to make things easier for Brad to update - if you code, you know this a huge hel
Also - thanks again boogie for posting the current patch notes - i get that things might change, but those of us having issues love knowing what might be fixed in the next release. Kuddos and get some rest!
saw kryos post - as long as HUGE issues remain - I can guarantee you that SD will keep pushing patches until they are sorted. They WILL NOT force us to wait for some mega patch that fixes problems. They understand that we want to play and enjoy their game. Shouldn't have to wait much longer. Fingers cross that tonights patch solves my problems and I can start nerding it up again in elemental. You solve the mega slowdown and I will sing your praises. edit
side note - I picked up your book. I got it for the extra campaign download primarily and for the hope that it might help me get immersed in elemental. I'll be posting a review on amazon once i finish reading. At the very least, I think having a novel coming out at the same time as elemental is a good idea. Another level for immersion and connecting with the game. Good stuff. Oh - and on the whole unfinished game, etc, debate - here's my take.
Quoting lswallie, reply 313Gamespot basically says the same thing as PCgamer but in a much more professional level-headed manner http://www.gamespot.com/news/6274610.html The PC Gamer guy sounded like he took it personally.
Yeah - the gamespot article is a lot more level headed while it still conveys the problems. I'm really impressed that at least these compa

Good feedback - I think I'm going to start a list and pay close attention to issues. Had my first fairly exciting game tonight where I lost myself for awhile. One thing that stood out to me - if the game would crash (it did 2-3 times LAAAAAATEEEE game - after slowdown doom), I couldn't find my soverign as she was in a city somewhere. I would absolutely LOVE a change to the UI so that I could always quickly find any of my characters that can use magic (but prima
That wall of text did more damage to me than my sov can do with magic. :/
Heh - you'd make an excellent director at my company. I will let them know.
I think I'll get the update after I finish the campaign, I don't want to restart it (again)
Good idea - the campaign isn't incredibly long, so you aren't missing much. FINISH IT!!!
Talked to the IT guys, and this should no-longer happen with future patches (was a throwback from the beta period).
Glad to hear it - but I do request that perhaps you overwrite the settings ONE last time on the next patch. Please change the default Tact-Battle Threshold to 0. I wrote about why in detail here - but the bottom line is that its extremely off putting to new players and I feel that it should be a setting th
I think some of the problem is that they were booked to and scheduled to release on a specific date - their marketing published said date here and there... brad went on a tour and confirmed said date, etc. I think they just fell into a time crunch and didn't have time to push another beta. I really agree that the full release version should have come out as a beta and then been patched (eg give me the full release version to beta test - then if there are no game breaking issues -
Thank you for the quick response devs and gang. I can confirm all you need to do is load your old save and then resave with a new name and it works fine.
And if that fixes it 100% of the time, the great stuff!
overall word is that some saves are borked and others are working ok. My take - the game is going to be in flux for a bit with changes and patches (all for the better) - just expect that if you update, you saves might not work - so don't get into any multi-day games unless you are willing to hold off on the next patch. Not an awesome suggestion, but one that will FOR SURE enable you to keep playing your games if you don't want to lose them. Otherwise, you take you chances an
Just a bump - I think FutileEmotion and I are going to do some in depth analysis on the campaign mode and provide some feedback on what appears wrong or needs some tweaks. Then SD can take it or leave it. I'm pretty sure we will be making polishing the campaign extremely easy for them, though, and it seems an easy enough way to give them a simple "change this" route instead of digging through it all when they are taxed working on more important fixes. Happy to add some polis
I changed my settings and this is no longer an issue. So, win as I can keep playing this build without being a grouch. So, its not a bug, but I'd argue pretty strongly that the default for this should be 0 and that EXPERIENCED players can just tweak it in options. Having little experience, I can tell you that having your sovereign die automatically early game sucks and is exceptionally frustrating. How about a change to the default settings in the next patch SD?
MG_pacov: Tomorrow I'm going to do a post about where we're at, where we're going, and the best way to get your suggestions/issues into our hands. We appreciate the offer, and will gladly be taking you guys up on it
Cool - looking forward to that post
They should just call it a tutorial. Im ALOT more interested in Stardock creating tools for modders to play with and make better sandboxes than them wasting dev time with creating starcraft-like campains.
If that's what they are treating it as [tutorial], then I think so to... Frankly, I don't think it should be a tutorial... it should be a full blown campaign. I'd like to see more and more tools (I don't think you can crea
Confused - SHOULD I have to change any settings to keep my sovereign from committing suicide? Also, it doesn't make any sense. Creature 1 attacks me and I flee. I return 2 turns later as the same character with no additional army but with 1 spell and creature 1 tears me to bits? I'd think that would be a default setting, not a "please don't commit suicide" setting. I will try the change you suggested so hopefully I can keep playing this release. Thanks for
Started a new post, but in case you only look here: I'm pretty sure this is a new bug, but maybe not. I start a new game. My sovereign has no equipment. I come up on a creature that is strong. I get the option to auto-battle or battle. I choose to battle to run away. I succeed. My spell research finishes for flame dart. I re-engage monster to kill them using magic. My sovereign automatically enters battle and I die. No o
