What's the range on these cannons? I've seen various answers and have never bothered experimenting myself. At first I thought it was through phase lanes but I remember I shot a cannon further than that before.

I mentioned how some companies close down free mods. Their argument is that it ruins the value of their IP or directly competes with their own products therefore costing them money. The quote you have taken was me trying to explain that if an author who released his work for no profit on the internet has no legal basis to say "This is copyrighted, you can't use this in your own work" unless he/she would be impacted in the wa
I'm no legal expert but I'll answer based on what I believe to be the case legally. With non comercial developed, publicly released code/script/data/models you can do what you like, as long as it's not for profit (which would include revenue from net advertising) you can fiddle with other people's creations and upload as much as you want. In cases where mods are based on cultural references the person who created the models and art etc will not have any copyright to their work. I could
I've had the same thing. My fleet split in 2 and set off on completely different routes to get to the same planet, they got there at completely different times so the pathfinding certainly isn't based on time of journey. I didn't have Jump as Fleet enabled though and I'd hope they wouldn't do that if I had.
Hehe nice post. It's worth mentioning though, Sins has probably the best homegrown AI of any RTS I have ever played. Can't think of any RTS where I felt the AI put up a challenge like this without cheating.
Let's face it, Sins is no simulation, it's as much fantasy as Warcraft is and for countless reasons. There might be scientific _references_ to the things we are playing with but there is, quite fine as far as I'm concerned, a complete ignorance of real science and what reality would look like in Sins. As soon as you point out the first unrealistic thing that comes to mind about space simulation games/programs/films then you find you can completely blow it away with reality. I very much doubt
All my comments are based on single player, that is where I would like to see expansion. 1. Diplomacy Don't know why this is not mentioned more. Any game without locked teams is just silly, everyone hates me because I didn't kill x ships in few minutes on the other side of the galaxy and the AI certainly doesn't treat itself the same way. Smooth this out, make it feel more realistic if that's possible or more forgiving. And why does the entire diplomacy system always come down to mili
The idea of a Wing Commander mod certainly peaked my interest and the game seems to suit it so well. My 2 pennies worth though is why does this need to be a fully blown mod? As far as I can see it feels this would be better as just 2 new factions you could add based on WC. The game could deffinately use more faction possibilities and how much fun can you make a mod that is based on 2 factions? It would be nice to see 2 added factions that are heavily based on big carrier style cap ship
I'm mostly an action gamer or MMOs but I play pretty much anything that isn't a sports game. My problem with this type of game though is that I'm too new to it and I hate doing something I'm rubish at :( Any game i play (Vs AI cause i'd get owned multiplayer) i end up reading tool tips more than i am playing and feel i don't know half of what is going on. I end up starting so slowly, capping so few planets at the start that I'm on the back foot and don't have the ability to recover. And y
As much as I agree that not having a campaign isn't a game breaker I would love to see something like this added to the game. Personally I would also love to see some more cinematics to give me more of a feeling of the races beyond having to read a long background story text in the manual. Think how much of an effect the Homeworld cinematics and story had on your feeling of scale and importance of what you are doing, imagine homeworld as just the skirmishes without the cinematics and story
