The gameplay distuingish between resource deliverers (mainly special tiles randomly placed around the world) and city improvements which provides multiplier to the gathered resources. E.g. to gather food, you have to search a special tile called fertile land, oasis, etc. If that tile is within your area of influence and you have enough resources you click on that tile and click the second button (e.g. build farm). After a few turns the tile improvement is build. The same is true for m

AFAIK the old one should work as soon as they active them again

There are already several threads, even a sticky one: Beta is closed, so you are not able to download it anymore (even if you had it before) and have to wait until they release the game - betatester will by the way get the game around today if everything plays well

I'm currently installing Parallel Desktop with Win7 to see how well it will play Elemental. Wanted to get rid of WinOS, but for Elemental I think I will make an exception :-)

I don't think that you can survive without founding a kingdom/empire. You are missing to many sources - spell research, guildar income, breakthroughs and building on special tiles for e.g. shards. I think initially, it was only planned that you can wander around in the beginning of the game, but to win you have to found a kingdom/empire - as you want to heal/conquer the world :-)

It has a bit more tactical battles than Travian :-) At least you can choose which unit should fight against what (prior to sending the troops). And I think Groove was refering to Lords of Ultima and not Ultima online. I have tested both 'new generation' browser games and to be honest, Lords of Ultima has nothing to do anymore with the famous franchise and M&MHK plays mor nicely but takes way to long until something is achieved. I tested alot of differe

Today I tried the archive option on the elemental beta. My stationary machine has Win7 64bit and my laptop XP 32bit. I tried to archive the game from Win7 and load the archive on my XP machine. Impulse was telling me that it is only possible bearing the same OS. Will this be changed in the future or what is the restriction behind? I thought it more or less deploy the files, but most probably this is not the case. I'm asking as I don't want to upgrade my laptop to Win7 even if I still

I consider modding too - mainly to identify limits and other ways to do :-) This will end most probably in nothing, but for myself this is what I enjoy most :-)

In most Civ forum I'm visiting regularly Elemental is already known :-) After playing the released version I'm planning to provide some AAR in german there :-)

I fear that Ubisoft will stay with their 24/7 online rule.. which means that several of nice series are not playable for me anymore. It's really a pity. Steamworks is the lesser evil of both cases.

Think of it as "Would you like to make your experience better by allowing us to collect non-identifying usage data, blah blah..." And thus Skynet is born. And thus Skynet Microsoft is born. Congratz :-) The upgrade of the GUI and the additional polishing of the textures/tiles looks great :-) There has been lot of work for the details between Beta4 and the Gold version. The only pity I have to face that my vacation ends on the day the game is open for d/l :-(
Quoting Wylaryzel, reply 17 If I remember correctly, you can have several options (not only one) with differently likelyhoods. If I understood it right, the smallest percentage comes as the first declaration, afterwards the next one until nothing is left Yeah, there is such thing, and it works. But it's like we have "1 and 2 and 3". Also want to know will it be possible to make "1
Cool, Frogboy! Thanks for givin us these tips, I have a feeling I'll be using them a lot in the future. Is there any way that you could set up a "% chart" that gives you different items based on chance? I saw in the code there was a "likeliness". Could we set it up so that its more likely that we will receive 50 gildar instead of the midnight stone? So in example: there is a 70% chance you'll get this: "you search the ruin

I approve of this.
I think its needed to be differentiated.. if we are talking about the UI, we are talking about what we see in the vid, not what is currently in Bet

I think the GUI is the second important part beside gameplay. If I need 3x times do find all the time the info which normally would be in a compact way there I would go for the first part. And to change a GUI with patching is all the time a bit critical.. with patches everyone would suppose to have minor tweaks.. if you have to completely re-learn the game cause the GUI is different, this is not really nice. And with regards to minimalistic GUI: if I look into the kingd

As I'm currently investigating the XML files in my little spare time, I struggled a bit with some values: Within here we have several options like UnitScale, SkinColor, etc which are part of the class as well. How does this play out? Which one is ruling or is there a reason for duplication? E.g. I tried to modify UnitScale to 0.5, but within the game, I saw no difference - not in the Faction selection screen neither InGame. <li

I agree with you storm :-) I was all the time in favor for Civ IV PBEM's .. 1-2 moves per day for a long lasting time, as I only have little spare time but it was always interesting and challenging :-)
Serious? We need to have XML knowledge? This is my first disapointment about Elemental. Why no visual tools or something?
It depends what you want to achieve. Map generation, Tile generation and a view others can be achieved internally. If you want to make more complex setups or generate more not out of the box, you can dig into XML :-) Personally, I can better work writing in different languages compared to my poor arti
