I think the problem with Bioware games is that at some point they adopted a story/game play formula which they don't really mix up. Goes: Start of game tragedy/cataclysm + first mini dungeon. Access to transport + 4 story locations to explore (and a couple of side quests) Complete 3 story locations = Extra story event in which you get kidnapped/wounded/set off course. Complete story location 4, opens final location Final location (end of game)</

The worlds been ravaged - you're fighting to survive and build a kingdom in one of the few restored areas in the world and no one is either protecting your area of influence or settling outside of your city in smaller towns? That just seems odd to me. And I'm sure this has been mentioned before. In fact ther
I had the same first impression. Basically equipped (teir 1-2) troops seem to cost too much. But then, I think the game should start out with the basic stuff researched (T1 armour (not weapons)) so you can start gearing up an army from early on. But that's just be and I tend to be fairly militant in my playing.
Check your firewall. I had to disable mine to get the game going and even then it took a long time for the first launch after that.
