I had this happen before. It turned out i had my sov set on auto explore or something like that. It was really easy to accidentally turn on in the beta.

They mentioned it in this thread: https://forums.elementalgame.com/391334 As for a workaround, I use the cloth map and it goes fairly well. Eventually though it will start to bog down, but its the best i can do atm.
I got a x1650 in my computer and I have the same issues you do. I can run any game today with no problems (maybe not super-maxed video settings, though that doesn't bother me) but Elemental in non-cloth map mode really chokes my computer after playing for a half hour or so. This extends to after a few tactical battles in cloth map mode as well. But I think they said that the performance issues are caused by the game not using your video card like it should and uses your
This is awesome! But really, the only reason to play oblivion (and especially morrowind now) is for the mods. Not that there's anything wrong with that as there are some real kick ass mods for BOTH games! Ah, now i gotta go play morrowind again. Time to download a few gigs of mods!
Same here. After a while, it just becomes unbearable. Switching over to the cloth map at that point helps, but the second you enter a tactical battle, it turns into a power point presentation.
While I understand and agree with why it's there, I find that it is both redundant and inhibits game play. I think the distance should be reduced to 6 or 7 tiles, max. 1- We already have to pay for new cities, and it's not like we're cranking out the gold in the first place. I know that some of the goody huts provide a decent amount of gold, but those are in no way guaranteed. Why limit something that is already limited? If you think that lowering the 'can't build here'
Might not be a bug, but more of a "Not enough spells" issue. I mean they did put up a spell idea thread somewhere after all.
I like the idea you've come up with. As it stands now, even if i wanted to be a fire mage and chose fire magic, if there is no fire shard anywhere in the neighborhood, i don't get to use the good stuff. The shard resource placement on map generation does not compliment choosing what "element" magic your sovereign uses before the map is even made. If you want to be an ice mage, (assuming an even number of shards are created of each type on a map) your saying 75% of all shard you fin
I could see this for things like the shards, but not every other resource. It is unlike civ in that you don't JUST have one supply of metal which is merely a prereq for units, but you are actually stockpiling that resource too. Units in civ do not cost in units of iron, or oil, unlike Elemental where you need 5 metal or so. Then you would have to give the cities their own resource pools and that neat little total resource amount at the top of your screen starts to become an excel spreadsh

But the shards i could see needing to be connected to the capital, being the home of your sovereign n all.
Every game i have started so far has been either overly generous with resources near my starting location, or nothing. And the ones with nothing tend to have nothing over a very large area, which i am in the middle of. Maybe a bone ogre or two for company. A quick "new map" would be very convenient.
