In all my games since 1.1 update, i have not used 1 single combat spell, ever! The reason being that by the time i have any decent combat spell, i am well past the point of actually needing it!!! There are plenty of hero's with special combat abilities, these could be construed as 'spells' and make up for the destruction of magic post 1.1 updates.
Yeah, I'm looking forward to see how they change magic to be a more viable strategy.</

I just want to be able to play as an actual pure mage as a viable option in "War of Magic." The magic system is not there yet. I haven't been around making negative comments. I've just been patiently waiting since they say there are still plans to improve magic. When they make those changes I'll start playing the game again.
It seems such a system will make summons virtually useless. You simply can't afford the mana upkeep if you want to use mana in your battles, at least until you get a lot of shards under your control. Likewise, mana upkeep for imbued champions means that no champions will be imbued, at least until late in the game. These changes weaken magic. I don't think magic needs to be nerfed. Military squads alread rule.
I've only played Kingdom. But I research the food techs under the civ research and also research adventure techs to discover more food resources. Also, I don't overbuild houses.
I'd like to see a high score board for the sandbox games.
I don't think it would sell better as a subscription game. And I personally don't buy subscription games.
Stardock is a gamer friendly company. Which is why I'll never hesitate to buy your products.
They took it out of the books available at character creation. Research magic and you'll get the book of summoning and other books.
I had the same issue. Dispel one of your enchantments and try the imbue again. The deal is that when you imbue you lose essence and so can't support as many enchantments. When you have more enchantments going than your essence allows the crash to the desktop occurs.
Your wife can travel with you and still have kids.
If the imbue results in your soverign having too little essence to be able to sustain all of the enchantments he has going a crash to the desktop will occur. So if that happens reload your game and dispel one of the enchantments and your imbue will work just fine.
I imagine you had the same issue I had. The imbue dropped your sovereign's essence down far enough that he could no longer sustain all the enchantments he had going. That resulted in the crash to the desktop. The temporary solution is to dispel one of your enchantments and then do the imbue. Save first, of course, in case that is not your issue.
I am sorry you are getting so many CTDs. That is not at all reflective of my experiences. Have you mae sure all of your drivers are up to date and tried to adjust different game settings?
I'm personally reviewing all the spell XML and I want to let you guys know that changes are coming. We're looking into separating the hit and damage rolls for offensive spells. The hit roll will be caster INT vs. defender DEF. The damage rolls will be between a min and a max value, not just from 0 - max. Here's the fireball description in my current build: "Target enemy unit is hit with a fireball and is dealt (5-9) damage. Damage is increased by (0.15) for every point of in
There are no weapons or armors that cater to someone who wants to play a "pure" mage. Throw in a magical staff or robe that gives mana regeneration under the magical armaments research. Or make mana regenerate in relation to a combination of intelligence and essence. Or make it possible to build a mage tower earlier in the game that contributes to mana regeneration. Or make the familiar give +1mana regen when he is in the same stack as the wizard.
