Thx scottycroft! :) Actually, the iMac runs it smoothly without any glitches so far :). It should be noted that it IS a regular windows install, it's not an emulator or anything flaky, running a full licensed copy of WinXP SP3 on a separate partition. I'm pretty sure that my crash issues are coming from having an older video card, Radeon X850 XT PT, which IIRC is a DirectX 9.2 card while Brad mentioned that they were targeting 9.3 or l

Updated both Video and Audio drivers to the latest available. EXACTLY the same crash at the same point. I've redone both the DXDiag and Debug file with the latest data. Debug File DXDiag This may not exactly be a cutting edge system anymore, but I don't exactly regard it as an antiquated 386

DXDiag attached via link, but there's nothing to show screen shot wise. If I change any options as far as what empire/kingdoms are in the game it crashes without ever showing anything but a black screen after the "Creating World" splash screen. If I leave it all exacly as the defaults I get a brief flash of what looks like a chaneller in a field before the crash. The .err file below is from one where I got a brief flash as I figured it was more likely to get you closer to

Ha! A Developer that still knows how to be scilly, well now we know more about the developmend -cycle- don't we? ::badda bing:: This thread == Pure win. Points to Brad! BTW just showed the Beta release plan to my 8 year old game designer, he was fascinated with the way it was broken out and agreed that it sounded like a GREAT way to get focused feedback. Keep the dev/programmers from having to wrap their heads

I'm up for the dev team caffeine infusion... Who's collecting the paypal donations and setting up the delivery? I'll handle setting up the chip-in page and handle the details if everyone wants ;). James

::nods:: And given that my son has real interest in game design theory, having the chance for him to see the process first hand is worth it right there. Not to mention that he'll be able to use some of the mod tools etc :). E: WoM is the first game I've really been excited about for quite a long time, I just don't like RTS and I've been missing games like MoM, Moo I/II etc for decades. CiV has only been able to do so much as far as filling the void i

MOM, XCom, MOO and MOOII (MOOIII sucked despite my hopes) and various CIV versions especially Alpha Centauri. These are the benchmarks by which I judge all newer TB strategy games. So far I have yet to find a game that exceeds the potential of those original games. Elemental is the first game in a long while that seems to be in the ballpark... Here's hoping that they live up to the legacy! :) James (and Alex)

Just wanted to chime in here. I'm a gamer from way back, pnp, 4x/CRPG etc. And I've got an 8 year old that's showing REAL promise as a game designer (we unschool, which is a flavor of homeschooling that's kind of like Montessori on steroids) who's really latched on to my collection of old 4X turn based games. How is this applicable to Impulse? Well, he was recently exposed to Empire: Total War at a friends house, and wanted to get a copy for h

Got our Pre-Order in today... I'm a MOM player from WAY back, in fact I just got my old copy working again with dosbox so my 8 year old can get addicted to it as well ;). Long story short, I've been watching this game for years and decided that it'd make the perfect combined gift for my son and myself. He LOVES game design of all sorts (his re-engineered version of the classic "Battleship" to incorporate aircraft and emphasize the role of the Carrier rather than j
