This would be due to the fact that there is no AI in the game yet. I don't think they would bother making much of a friendly AI if they don't even have an enemy one.
It's actually a fairly common issue with firewalls that a game won't quit full screen but will also freeze either at the start or when trying to access some online functionality
I've managed to complete the quest by moving the Damsel/Knight alone (from the start) to my first city

A lot of crashes, weird bugs and well... a beatiful vision of the future. Oh and I just preordered the game myself and despite usually getting a crash about 30 to 40 turns into the game have been playing for about 6 hours XD
As the title suggests the game crashed when trying to load a game. I figured this might be worth reporting since usually it apparently just hangs. EDIT: Trough complete accident I might've found a way to reproduce the crash. Apparently if you for some reason (for me it's been the end of turn hang that I talk about below) click on the New Game button but press back immediately (I found that to be the only way to load a game while you have a game in progress since otherwi
