Good feedback. I am all tied up at the moment, so I can't test out the leveling. Nice to know it is taking longer. My goal is to have level 20 heroes by the endgame. If we are doing level 7 at that point, I will lower the E=3.20 to E=2.95. E is the exponent in the level equation. It's hard to calculate because we don't current have the whole equation. I am just guessing on how it will work.

Best: 1. Modding is epic. The quest system allows for real in depth storytelling. The xml is easy to read, change, balance to each person's preference. 2. RPG in a TBS. Officially better than a Tur[turkey]key 3. Wildlands. Such a great concept. It brings alot of depth to each map. Worst: 1. Balance is still way off. I have an entire mod of balance changes to keep playing the game. Not a good sign. 2. Potential of adding campai

I am adding in some new staves that do splash damage, damage to all enemies, damage to all units, have an Initiative bonus, do mass amounts of elemental damage, allow you to cast special spells. This is needed in the vanilla.

One of the disconnects between developers and testers is that they take so much longer to make changes. When we see a problem, like defense or weak units, we can just change something to fix it. The devs have a much longer and more involved process to change balance numbers. I would guess that they are already making some changes, but it is invisible to us. It will probably be another month before we see any concrete changes, unless we just guess which changes they will make and implement the

+Updated balance to require more techs to get to mounts. Wargs and Horses are now side by side, instead of consecutive. +All Fortress based training buildings now cost less to build. Barracks now reduces training cost by 35%. +Unit XP is now 75% of a hero's gain. +50% more XP needed to level. (M=1.5, E=3.1). This will mean a little more early on and much much more needed later on. Let me know where the amount needed starts to take forever. I am shooting for l
Now you can win in early-mid game (in expert difficulty). So in most cases no need in 4-5 levels of cities. Anyway success in mid game depends on success in early game. Success in late game depends on success of mid game. So each game stage: early, mid and late should be balanced separately. For me only early-mid game matters. I choose Conclave (+3 research, wow) to research Mounted Warfare asap. So I can buy a horse very fast. Horse gives
Hi Sean would it be possible to separate this mod into smaller mods so that we can pick and mix the bits we want?
That would take too much work. If you are handy with XML, you could just take the parts you like and leave the rest.

As to Verga, I am still trying to get the Sov power right. One problem with single unit monster armies is that they are easily kited. I can only fix that by increasing the number of units in the army for now. I will make a note though, thanks. Verga is a Necromonger-Warlord. He is extremely powerful, but can't use any magic. He is specifically designed to be able to solo most enemies. BTW, Stun has 100% accuracy for everyone. I will change this in the next update.

It should also be noted that Air is the only magic you can increase in power from technology. Ereog's Tower makes this entire element much more desirable. Haste: It's the best book one spell. Makes cavalry extremely effective, can be cast on most of the army by a weak mage with no other powers for a small mana cost. This spell is really good for every unit and can get you massive amounts of Init. later in the game. It just keeps getting better and better.

I have devices and machinations you could never fathom! Mua... muah haha... muah ha ha ha ha hahaha! No, really though, I changed all the wandering radii to between 0 and 3. I made lairs spawn larger numbers later in the game. I set a lair from each Wildlands to have a wandering radius of 15. Then I set a parameter in lair spawns to spawn monsters of the same type near each other. The result is a better monster progression that sticks to its original territory. With all

I gave up on that last game. Getting an early surrender makes things too easy. My next series will be a modded version again. I will play as Pariden, now the most magical race of them all.

Age of Dynasties is officially the best event in the game. I might call it Age of Reproductive Rites. =) I am doing one called "The End of the World, Again." The Fog of war turns blood red and the lighting is now a dim bloody color. All beasts are more powerful, unrest is increased to by 100%, and a strange Tower has been found on the horizon. Beating the quest will set things back to normal, mostly.

The mod is ready for its first round of play. Please post any problems or bugs, any issues or imbalances. Remember, even an elephant can be balanced if you find the right counterweight.

I think one of my most brilliant ideas was to leave Life as powerful as it is, but increase the mana costs. Any Buff should cost more because it is guaranteed to work. Offensive spells only need to cost alot if their attacks will instantly kill enemies. Things like Growth need to hurt your bank. Spells like Berserk need to have Mass Berserk available with some extra mana cost. Things like Mass Curse should be something you can cheaply cast every battle. One thing

I would have added some logic about population based things to add realistic immersion to the game, but I am trying to keep the non-expert players in mind. A system that is too complex will be thrown out by the devs since they are trying to appeal to a portion of casual gamers. We don't want to go Crusader Kings, but we do want some level of CivIV:BtS. I specifically set all of the bonuses to be good, even if a mentally challenged person was choosing them. Not optimal, but not detrimental

Pretty much anything you can imagine can already be done with the known tags. This thread is just about allowing global modifications. So everything you want is already possible. I think the only limitation left is having one player impact another's whole faction. That might even be possible by adding a game modifier to a city they own with a strategic spell. I haven't seen any examples of it yet though.
