Yeah :). Been working on the walls past couple of hours, exterminating the pines and adding more sections with little things here and there. I actually opened them up with intention to start the tutorial on constructing them, but ended up working on those again, lol. Basic is done, I'm almost happy with advanced, but castle walls are proving more problematic. Oh wells, I'll get them.

It's weekend! :) M. Agrippa: Shrinking spires on the fort (both inner and outer ones) was a good call. It made the fort better proportioned, thanks! I didn't remove the buttresses so, they are kinda one object with the outer pillar thing. Treid replacing them with the same spire as the inner circle and didn't like the result. Building just lost its shape to my eye. Crystlshake, Scary looking monument there! Pleasant purple, though :). And don't feel like you ab
*sighs* I know I said I wouldn't post for couple days. And I wasn't planning to! I was tackling some reading, happily making some porgress on -other- stuff than tiles, and then I had an idea. And it wouldn't leave me alone untill I sat down and built it. I tried! Now that it's out of the way, maybe I can finally get some work done, sheesh! Castle, surrounded by 3 'slums' tiles. (Can we call slums something else by the way? Community? Efficient quarters? Anything? And may loose the swo
M. Agrippa, looks like you are being outvoted on the storehouse, sorries! :P I definately see your point though, I was undecided with dome vs. domeless version for a reason :). No go on more colored mushrooms either, I am afraid. The ones I have provide the best contrast unless I start using flower/spike plants, which I'd rather not, since they are already in orchad/apiary and may make an appearance at the refugee camp and oasis when I get to those. Other available mushrooms are bland brown.
First one it is :). And John, I swear it's not my intention to always be contrary, but I like the crooked fence better than stright one for this building. It creates a better illusion of roundness, imho. Stright version of that fence works well on bigger tiles since when trying to make a circle angles aren't as noticable there. Take a look, storehouse with stright fence vs crooked fence: <img src="http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/9672/comparision.jpg" alt="" width="5
You guys keep referring to me as a he, add an s before h, darnit :P. I also made a fungal storehouse (another food related improvement). Two of them in fact, and I can't decide on which to keep. Which one you all prefer? V1 (that water pool to the right is part of inner wallset, not part of the building) V2 <img src="http://img573.imageshack.us/img573/9510/fungal1.jpg
Granery (behind the farm and near labor pit) And I tried wooden disk on orchard... didn't like it... the dark wood takes too much focus in the tile instead of being -just- a floor. Looks good in the editor, but kind of off when placed near the city right now. Might experiment a bit more with it being a slightly larger floor underneath the water square that doesn't quite reach the
But it is a greenhouse! It's just groundbased/floorless because I'm trying to watch object count and dislike most of the decals :P Edit: tried it with a decal to make it more greenhouse-like. Thinking I'm going to have to take my words back. They are useful in some cases. John, like it better?
Well, the dome shape is going to show itself again in several more buildings (not too many, so it doens't become too repetitive, but some). And there are more food storage tiles to go through... Edit: ArcElement: Archivist is a a basic building for tech research. It upgrades to Master Archivist later. :)
That's some seriously cool tile, John :). Looks like something out of fairy tale. The emerald palace though, for all its grand name and being a unique lvl 5 improvement, is a 1x1 tile. It's going to take some effort to make that sucker live up to its name. Guess I'll be building up, since there is no space to go sidewise... Also, made the orchard. Why go through the trouble to suck all the life out of land plunging it into eternal winter and then cultivate green stuff? Bits me
Hey, you didn't mail any wallset yet. Your latest mail didn't have attachment. Was that intended?
Forgot to add the attachment [e digicons]XD[/e] . Even better though. I'll just send you updated versions later today. By the way, thank you very much for the tutorial for reskinning existining models. I did the crystals, and while I am yet to use them anywhere I've ideas :). Emerald palace and Order of Draginol come to mind. And shard structures. Didn't want to bother you
Took a look at how kingdom farm+core look, sizewise. Looks like my lvl 1 and lvl 2 cities got a too low of a fence issue. It's not the farm that dwarfs them... well. The pool size contributes. Reduced it. Made the built tile. Will fix up core 1 and core 2 and see how they look back to back with a farm. *crosses fingers* Oh. And I know I haven't been showcasing a lot of built tiles, I
Winnihym: have you tried hooking those improvements up to the TESTBUILDING.xml that Heavenfall provided and taking a look how things appear in game? Might make it easier to make a judgement on which design you prefer once you see how things look when repeated a few times inside the city :) I've a gut feeling that with the pattern you have established with previous tiles your first house will fit in better, but I'm usually wrong more times than I'm right, hehe. Onto golems...</
Winnihym: yup, I agree with John, you can do a pretty neat things with platforms and variating height. The trick is, as he said is to watch your height settings across the board. It would be odd to see a house go higher than a city core, or a warcollege, or a beacon, etc. Also, you might find this useful... that woodplatform John is talking about... there is another one in the editor with a stone frame around the wood. Flipping it over the xz plane creates a different l
Warning! Wall of... wallsets. Actually. Lemme do links instead, this is reeealy image heavy. In those is the written destiny improvement inside of a city... I'm not sure if in game it'll be in a city or just close to it... but eh. Not enough tiles to fill in the space for a good screenshot otherwise, yet! Bunch of tiles under construction with basic fence <a href="http://img801.imageshack.us/i
Sir_Linque, thanks for dropping by! I have the effect sorted out, though, with the help of Nimbyjester. If you are curious a couple of pages back there is a screenshot of the Master Archive with the lightening effect attached. That youtube demonstration was close how it turned out (differnt renders/colors and zx plane). Kronik83: Hey... you making me actually like the default empire building components... hated them before. Those buildings look great, very much fitting with the desert
Love the loreshop shape! :) Written Destiny resource (produces golems) Would look better with couple more golems on 'spawning' platforms, but eh. Zoom out past medium distance and that sole one I have now goes 'poof' too. And for size comparision with a shard: I'm of half a mind
You have until wednesday.
Well then! I'm renaming the unique golem tile 'Heavenfall's demise'. And sending golems after ya. All that brainpower will be put to good use! Promise! :P
Haha, well, my brain has declared me insane after compiling that list and taking a mental stock of objects to build with. :P Updated with corrections. I figure... it'll take a month-ish, give or take a few days.
M. Agrippa: *waves* Thanks! Winnihym: You've no idea how many times per tile building session I wish for separate scaling :P It would open up soooooo many options. I believe it was asked for multiple times in the thread for modding improvements, but it never hurts to bombard the devs with that request some more! Study/Library looks very nice. And, from what I remember of the elven tileset (made a part of it, after all, lol) it will mesh great with it. Lots of arches there too.
Heavenfall: You got it! Or err... will, eventually :P. Will take a bit of time, but I'd love to do the full set. Walls first though, might as well get the most frustrating thing out of the way. Also, mind I try out your crystals from elementium churners mod to splice up some more advanced buildings? Not saying I'll need to, but if they mesh well. John: house is great. I do like how you fit things together, and the use of rock and plants. Pure white elements bother me a little th
oddrheia: were you looking for a series of lightning strikes (falling) in a row?
No, no... I was actually doing my darned best -not- have them falling, but to have them go diagonally and horizontal :P. I'd still be at it if not for Nimbyjester! Got what I wanted done. Actually, got EXACTLY what I wanted done.:) Lookie! Off to finish up built tiles!
Oh, my god. With game perspective, this looks absolutely fricking PERFECT. I tweaked the rotation values a little now that I actually understand they are in radians, changed color values a bit, added another pair... and... take a look yourself :). Thank you so very much! And for explanation too! I can't believe I let the radians measure slip by me!
I want them :P Will play with those after I get you other tiles :)
Hey, kronik83 :) The default envoronment for golem king faction is arctic, not fallen, so the screenshot is fairly true to how the final appearance is going to be (minus green trees and wooden fences, feh. I've some concerns about how it will mesh with default empire buildings, mostly due to the fact that quite a few of them use cobbled ground decal. Bleh. But I honestly like the current look. I mean, sure, I can scrap and make it look more generic and "gloomy empire" but I'd rather n
