Perhaps a more economic method should be made available. I think I vaguely recall the Alchemists Lab name being taken already, but the old premise of Alchemy was to turn things to gold from lesser invaluable things. Maybe we should make a building that converts x gold to y metal, noting that the ratio should be off a fair amount, reverse the order so to speak since "Gold" is the purest element it can be transformed into Iron. Alright cfehunter, I essentially agree on that. I moreso talk about the epic-level spells in my post later on. I like the ideas you have, in terms of balance and control of magic by the channelers- and your "classical" seperation of the elements into magic. I hope they aren't too focused, each element should have a way to damage troops in some form and buff/alter city output. An earth enchantment would be the typical natures bounty-a wind enchantment could bring increased trade-etc. etc

I have a few problems with this post I suppose, i'm not an expert on game design nor do I know the answer to everything... I understand the dislike of tedium in these games to alot of players, while you may not enjoy giving your people a +1 enchantment to food production to me it makes me feel like an apocalyptic leader. What you call "mechanics" are all part of running your empire-People need to eat and with your magic you can infuse these plants and crops to go faster. <br /

Awesome! I'm excited for the new AI and these monsters grouping together. I think that's a badass trait-As civilizations get more complex-So do thugs, crime rings and all that. They band together-Tame some animals-You know barbarians and all that. I also like the fact of an intelligent creature being able to lead them! Keep improving on this, looking forward to more AI updates soon.

I only have two right now, not sure if these are resolved--Havn't had time to try the new build since finals are coming around. 1) Saying-WE SHOULD TRADE-Then not accepting any offer or any possible trade-at all 2) Saying-OUR CHILDREN SHOULD MARRY-Then refusing all marriage proposals. Thanks Frogboy for reminding me why I love stardock. A few things I was curious about.. Champions: Can you choose "abilities" when they get upgraded? I.E Does a high level merchant generate more gold then a low level merchant? I would love to see something of this implemented, or maybe their "occupations' are modified by a stat. Merchants generate more gold with a higher charisma, lore masters generate with more wisdom/intelligence... I don't know, that or that they get

Very much so enjoy the cloth map, really enjoy the empire building. The overall feel of the game is lovely, it has everything a good 4X should. Expand, Exterminate, yatta yatta :) Research trees are massive and in depth, and even if you finish a branch you can keep researching for cumulative benefits (MOAR OF THESE!) Dynasties are an absolutely unique feature (So i've found) and I hope they keep getting more support. Also-Magic is lovely. Nothing like having a giant ice golem slammin

Yah thanks alot for taking the time and coming to have a chat with the few of us who are meandering around the forums. :) You guys have a great game here, very excited to see where it goes. I think i'll enjoy the new magic system, it's nice to have modifiers effected by stats but it's hard to balance that way, if you have it so spells are unlocked at x intelligence it's much easier. @Frogboy-Any news on balancing champions in melee combat? It'd be neat if they had a chance to withdraw in combat after taking severe damage. As of now a high level melee hero won't stand up to a squad of people. Too scared too be one hit after all that investment. Keep up the good work :) Very excited for expansions.

Has anyone heard any news in bettering heroes for actual combat? I hate having a high level hero sit in the back during actual warfare, afraid he'll get one hit. Also, are heroes that level up going to get a selection of new abilities? I say a very high level merchant should generate quite a bit of gold, maybe even that of a gold mine. Like everytime you level you can choose to level up your talent or take another, say a hero that generates 1 point of both tech/gold/arca
