Just want to echo a few others here in saying that I pretty much NEED a campaign in order to invest in a 4x game. It was DEFINITELY worth your time to work one in, as it also serves as a long form tutorial in some ways. Going to start digging in this weekend!

It was incredibly clear to me looking at the website what this game would be like, so I can't really empathize. Also, Tournament Mode (single player) is much closer to a campaign than skirmish, akin somewhat to Dawn of War 40K 1 campaigns. It should not have been difficult to get the game working.
