We need more fluid city development techs, and we need to be able to get at them from several trees, because in a normal game you are going to wind up developing a more stable military first Sorry, not sure I see the point here, the whole point of being able to choose path means that this is a meaningless argument. You can develop a couple of levels of military and then switch to city techs. Your argument is that you

On paper the skills overhaul looks good. I am a little confused by the combat mechanics and the whole basis on RNG (Random Number Generator). I would prefer to see the roll to hit ACC vs DEX with the random factor and then STR and DEF resolving the damage down in a constant fashion. At the moment it still seems hit and miss. You have a chance to be missed, then you still have a chance with a highly armoured char to roll low and have a huge chuck o
Sorry not to be funny, but your argument negates your conclusions. Argument Roads are built through the need for commerce. Conclusion Roads cannot be built to frontlines for war purposes or exploration. Fix. That is completely expected and what you state does not really pair up together. The current system works well. If you want to move your road system along then build a forwar
If the "realtime" and improved AI changes make it in, then that will be pretty impressive. However, I am optimistic that it will be a good improvement overall. Hopefully set the stage for a smaller more incremental patches that adjust balance.
Fishslayer how old are you? I am no longer even going to reply to your input, Everyone else in the thread is pretty much agreed that heroes are underpowered compared to other units and only have some advantages due to other flaws in the game (AI, range OP). You are the only one who is basically posting like a troll. Glowing, I wouldn't apologise to him, he is just trolling.
Not being funny Fishslayer, but if you have this uber strat that no one else doesn`t seem to comprehend please share it. Oh yeah, and add a screenshot of your hero taking out a full stack of AI. I would like to see some evidence of how you manage to create a hero that takes down multiple dragons and 12 men units on ridiculous. I can only guess from your post that you have been drinking or something :p cpl... I agree that there needs to be some ran
I'll tell you this... if they decide to balance it so that one must rush everything to even be viable in playing then i'll be among the multitudes complaining about this game. I play freeform sandbox games to take my time and have fun building an empire.. not to rush to victory. WHich if i did I would be bored of this game already since half the time i could simply steamroll opponents with my SOV within the first 100 turns. This is perhaps my biggest complaint of 4x games
I tested on normal after the 1.09 patch, in fact I didn't buy the game until the 1.09 patch. The thing is it sounds like your playstyle is a very slow playstyle and you build yourself up very slowly. In your playstyle I would assume that the heroes seem balanced or even OP. However, if you took your playstyle and matched it against a fast (you could call it rush I guess) you would lose every game. Then to you it would seem that the balance was out of whack. &nbs
My whole army usually tends to consist of heros sovs and a few peon units. I use heros and sovs for the majority of fights and pretty much ignore normal units. What difficulty are you playing on? I can definately do that on normal where there is not a problem. However, normal is not a fun mode to play as the AI does absolutely nothing, I mean 250 turns and I find SOVs sitting on their starting town and they haven't even built a hut
It's a game that you can lose your hero/guardian easily enough if you don't take care of it but it's still powerful enough to do a lot more damage than regular troups. Yes, but in elemental neither situation exists. Even if you take care of your champion, then all it needs is one unlucky roll on a battle start and goodbye champion. That is not tactical that is just stupid. The only champion that can do a lot of damage is a spell caster. Al
But my arguement is still valid in my mind. Heroes are NOT weak. In fact, they are overpowered in my opinion. And will be NERFED before they are buffed. If the thread was titled "CHEESE HEROES and WHY THEY SHOULD BE REVAMPED" I would agree. The thread would really have to be called Range Weaponry Cheese :) A stack of cheaper archers can output more DPS than a skilled hero. What will be nerfed is range attacking. Heroes are far fro
Yeah but Fishslayer, that is not an example that heroes are fine it is an example that heroes are weak. Your strat, which is pretty much the strat that everyone uses is : * Give hero range weapon * Give hero spells * Let hero sit at back * Hope enemy doesn't get first turn and hit hero with range That is the only way that heroes are viable and it means they are in comparison to normal troops useless. Why even bother
I don't understand your reaction to my reaction? I certainly can't identify with your perspective as it pertains to my reaction, that's for sure. Are you a fanboy? I'm just a strategy game player, that's all. Why on earth should you be upset over my opinion on the matter anyway? or even want to comment on it? No he is not a fanboy, he speaks the truth. Your reaction is pretty much idiotic. It is a fricken game,
Had a nice untimely death today of my Sovereign :( RIP Lord BuTTmunch First problem, he was racing with his split army to prevent the take over of Irontown, somehow he got diverted when the little feather that guides him clicked on the town, but for some reason the square that got highlighted was just below it. I have noticed this seems to happen after playing for a while, the actual cursor seems to be about a tile of pixels under the end of the feather, which c
I too think that Champs are a core focus of this game, it is TBS however it is also RPG. Why would there be a whole engine around levelling and equipment? At the moment, that is purely wasted Dev effort as it is too demanding to look after a champion when you can just churn out stacks of troops that will perform better. There should be the option for both in this game, if you want a stand at the back general or a frontline champion, both should be achievable. At the mom
Not to go too OT, however I don't believe that Elemental broke the Gamers Bill of Rights at all. The release was rocky, but Stardock have improved the game a lot since release, thus sticking to their Bill and any gamer who disagreed would have got a refund within 30 days. That is definately a lot more than any other publisher of download games. Try getting a refund off Steam or Direct2Drive...... you download = tough luck buddy.
Yeah, I think the key is in the Champions health, that it doesn't scale. I am not saying they should be unbeatable, there should be some risk, but being at risk of being one-shotted pretty much past early game, makes them useless or severly over - priced. I am a warhammer fan too, but having them as part of a squad brings around a lot of changes to mechanics that would be hard to implement and not really what I would like to see. </p
I like the way that cities grow and the map changes that is really something special. I would like to see cities being more customisable, for instance being able to perhaps build villages or settlements near the main core of the city to spread your influence/tag resources but not require another city to be built. Make these destructable by armies etc. I would also love to see similar buildings combine, sim city style, so if you build 4 huts in a square, they transform to a Mansion tha
My vote is Yes. One thing that is disappointing me at the moment is the fact that my champions are really weedy and useless. They have horribly expensive equipment and once you start getting big stacks/monsters they are literally rubbish unless skilled for magic. Personally, if they are going to be in the tactical battles I would love to see them kick ass in them. I would prefer to spend more time levelling my champions, crafting them armour and s
I too was waiting around. I got some good news about my pay packet and decided to splash out after reading so long about it. I figured that I would end up buying it anyway, so might as well just buy it now and play around with it until the patch comes out. Overall I am glad I bought it, there is a good game buried in there and it is different to most of the releases at the moment. I prefer to play more niche games than the standard FPS/action fare.
I purchased it now too and I am quite surprised, it is pretty playable and quite fun too. I like the way that it is so customisable at the start. The AI just needs a good overhaul.
Well I just downloaded the Civ 5 demo and I am glad I did, my pre-order got cancelled. It is polished, it is nice to look at, however at the end of the day it is still the same old Civ. I was really looking forward to it and after all the reviews got really stoked for it. However, it is the same as when I used to play it for hours on end when I was 16 years old. It didn't really feel that compulsive or exciting to play. I think I will just hold on
What is the purpose of this thread?
Not a lot of purpose really, I just seriously felt a little sorry for Stardock and hope they learn from this. What purpose do most threads have on a board? Most of them little purpose, just people sharing their thoughts. Plus like the other poster, just to annoy you :p
Well those "trolls" have spent their money on this game (which you haven't) so allowing you to base your choice (not to spend on it and wait) on direct information.
Hehe, I was actually referring more to Demigod, the Elemental forums are a walk in a park compared to Demigod's first couple of months :) I think this forum is a good example of the state of the game and far more representative than the reviews that have been released. I
I haven't posted on the Elemental boards yet, but have lurked here on and off for the past 6 months. I just feel pretty bad (not that anyone really cares :p), but I just laid down my pre-order cash for Civ 5, based on the early reviews. I feel a little bad after being a GalCiv 2 fan, pre-ordering and enjoying Sins of a Solar Empire and really enjoying Demigod, despite all the flak. I was nearly there on purchasing Elemental but have decided to hol
